"To Mike W."
Hi Mike,
I'm relatively new to this site as I've posted maybe 3 times
before since I discovered it about 2 months ago. I read your
March 6th posting via Frank Molver's March 10th posting.
Mike, I was adopted into a Christian home, accepted Christ into
my heart at age 12, and then reconfirmed my relationship with
Him later in high school, and again in college. Each time
was with a genuine heart of commitment to Him, as my
understanding at that time was that we are sinners saved by
grace, that there is no real expectancy of Him toward us to
cease from doing the sins of the flesh as described in 1 Cor. 6:
9-10 and Gal. 5: 19-21, and many other places in scripture,
because we have a sin nature, and that there is nothing we can
do about it, therefore we will continue to sin, up til we
receive our new bodies. This is how we are taught and view
God's grace; that He is holy and we are not, and through His
blood He sees us now as new creations, even though we still have
a sin nature.
Mike, I'm not the Convector of truth, as I cannot teach and
reach your inner man intrinsically like the Holy Spirit, but
what I can say and do is let you know, based upon being taught
the OSAS doctrine for 28+ years (the same doctrine you hold),
that the only way we are OSAS is when we abide (continuously
remain) IN Him. Trust me, I know your mindset. You
believe that when a person confesses their sin, and invites
Jesus Christ into the heart, that His blood covers their sin
(past, present, future). You believe there is nothing we
can do AFTER receiving Christ to keep from doing the sins of the
flesh. Mike, just like your mindset is right now, so was
mine, until I began to realize how much of a hypocrite I was
being, and here's the main thing: GOD PUT IN MY HEART TO CRY OUT
TO HIM TO ASK THIS QUESTION: THERE'S GOT TO BE MORE TO YOU THAN
WHAT I'VE BEEN TAUGHT.
Mike, the heart of king David, even with all the sin he
committed (past tense), desired to not sin against Him anymore.
In order for David to even have this kind of desire, he first
had to believe it was possible. King David genuinely confessed
and repented of his sins, and committed himself to Him to remain
pure, and he did, even with all the baggage he inherited from
his PAST sins.
Mike, do YOU have the heart of king David? I believe you
do. No man can pursuade any into this knowledge. No
man can teach any this understanding. It's Him that draws
you to ask that question: THERE MUST BE MORE TO YOU THAN I HAVE
BEEN TAUGHT
