Your Pastor has some interesting thoughts/comments on the identify of Mystery Babylon.  Fits with what others have said about Rome.

 

I have read the writings of several Eschatology teachers who believe they have identified who MB is...or what comes the closest.  They all have 'good' reasons as to why she is Rome.  Or Jerusalem.  Or NYC.  Or Mecca.  Or Babylon of old. Or our eastern seaboard.

 

This megalopolis of power and wealth is indeed a mystery.  So many have written about MB - and yet, we don't have ONE city/area that we can all agree on.  A real mystery.

As for the 'blood of the saints' - I believe that Islam has killed more 'saints' than the Catholic Church.  So does Mecca 'fit' better? 

 

I wrote that I believe that NYC/eastern seaboard where there is much evil, is MB - or, at least, the best candidate; there is a lot of money changing hands -  - where there is a lot of money there is going to be satanism, occultism, paganism.

 

All kinds of merchandise passes through our eastern ports - and this area is powerful and immensely wealthy.  This megalopolis is huge.  Rev 18:24 "And in her blood of prophets and of saints was found and of all those having been slain on the earth."  This great city becomes a 'haunt of demons' and every king, merchant, nation is guilty of sharing in her immorality and greed.  The merchants traded in bodies and souls of men.  There is great sin associated with Mystery Babylon and all those who traded with her.  I would bet there is a lot of human trafficking, sex trafficking, etc involved with Mystery Babylon's merchants.  AAPA Seaports Magazine (AAPQ) - Fourth Quarter 2023 - Shining a Light on Human Trafficking: How Seaports Are Taking a Stand

 

Mystery Babylon must be a great city, a megalopolis, a power center and a wealthy super structure.  She is the 'epitome' of worldly success.  And she must be a seaport.  It's the merchant capital of the world.  Merchant trade is primarily in ships.  The bulk of merchandise is moved over the seas.  Revelation 18:16.   Rome is not on the sea.  The great whore 'sits on many waters'.    The woman can't be literally sitting on seven mountains if she's a seaport.  When she's destroyed, the ships can easily sea here from their distance out at sea - she's right there on the coastline.  Gary Stearman:  Identifying Mystery Babylon.

That's why I wrote about the eastern seaboard of our east coast - a megalopolis of the cities in that area...NYC (Brooklyn Waterfront, Port of New York and New Jersey) Newark Bay, NJ, Port of Virginia, Port of Boston, - one giant megalopolis of seafaring power.  Gary Stearman of Prophecy Watchers has written about this.  To date, what he has written, imo, makes the 'most sense' for who or what Mystery Babylon is.

 

 Thank you for your letter, Kat.  This is a very interesting topic - a puzzle with a lot of pieces.  A mystery, indeed!
