"Gino:  "Returning to animal sacrifices?""

Hello Gino, John and Doves,

Gino - this is a very interesting letter.  You asked a very thoughtful question about the Jews restarting the animal sacrifices and this leading to the abomination of desolation.  Your reasoning is really very good for mainstream beliefs in Eschatology.  Got me thinking about a few things....

As many here know, I don't follow some of the 'mainstream' beliefs.  In this case, my answer to your query is no.  The Jews restarting any animal sacrifices in a rebuilt Temple doesn't precipitate the abomination of desolation.

All of the seals, vials, etc are going to happen because of what Israel/Jews have done long before the Tribulation period starts.  They did not accept the Messiah some two thousand years ago.  They need to recognize and accept personally Jesus as their Messiah.

As I understand it, mainstream Eschatology has the third Temple built right before the Trib starts or right before mid-Trib...I've seen various thoughts on this. So it's ready for the AC to declare himself god half way through a seven year Trib.

For my thoughts:

First, the 'abomination of desolation' is the surrounding of Jerusalem by armies as Luke tells us (Luke 21:20  Eschatology teachers ignore this) and second, because there is no third temple built by human hands for the Tribulation.  I know that's not mainstream eschatology.  I see no 'third temple built by human hands' in The Revelation - I don't see it being built before, or during - I see no services in a rebuilt Temple, no Jewish sacrifices on an altar, no people going to the Temple on Shabbat, and no destruction of it at the end...nada.  I don't see it in the Tribulation.  Something as important as a Third Temple surely would have been mentioned in The Revelation - somewhere in the Tribulation period?  And surely, its destruction would have been mentioned?

Some say it has to be there for the AC to commit 'the abomination of desolation' by declaring himself God in the Temple, so therefore there must be a Temple.  2 Thessalonians 2:4.  In this verse Paul is describing a very arrogant Antichrist who exalts himself above everything - he is a man who thinks so much of himself that if possible he would sit on the very throne of God.  Showing himself to be God.  He's that arrogant.  I don't see this means a third temple is built.

"Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God."

The Greek word "hoste" or "so that" is "insomuch that" or "wherefore".  "Hoste" is a word that 'expresses consequence or result'.  It "defines more accurately the magnitude, extent or quantity."

So to me this verse is more accurately interpreted as 'Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God or that is worshipped; insomuch that he believes he could sit in the temple of God, pretending he is God.'  The quantity or magnitude of his arrogance is so great!  Thus, I do not see a third Temple or the AC declaring himself god in any temple.

As for Daniel 9:24 - 27.  "He" that confirms a covenant with many for one week is Jesus (He writes the New Covenant on the hearts of the people; He is the last lamb/sacrifice - so He ends the sacrifices.).  He fulfills the first 3.5 weeks (3.5 years - Jesus' ministry) of Daniel's 70th Week.  In the middle of the week, He is crucified/cut off.   Jesus told the Jewish people that they missed the visitation of God.  This was HUGE.  The coming 'abomination' is the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD - mirroring the "abomination of desolation" coming for Jerusalem in the End Times.  I've written about my thoughts on this before.

We know that the animal sacrifices come back as described in the last chapters of Ezekiel -  during the thousand year reign of Christ.

IMO, animal sacrifices do not happen before that time.  I do not believe that human beings build a 'third temple' that many believe is present in the Tribulation period.  I agree with your comment "So, restarting animal sacrifices for sin, now, while rejecting their Messiah and His blood sacrifice, is not a good thing."

Ezekiel 43 tells us of animal sacrifices - bulls and rams - on the altar.  This is when these sacrifices are reinstated.

Returning to animal sacrifices?

Possible scenario:  As for the "abomination of desolation" - if one uses Luke's 'abomination of desolation' as the surrounding of Jerusalem of armies...that is the Antichrist's armies moving in on Jerusalem - they lay siege to this city and eventually take it over - where it is trodden down by the Gentiles for 1260 days and the AC rules from there for 1260 days.  And the Jews flew for 1260 days.  And the two witnesses carry out their prophecies and judgments from there for 1260 days.  All the same time period.

Gino, what I also wanted to look at again was the verse you added in your letter - I looked at it differently this time.

Daniel 12:11  "And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days."

Thank you for the words in italics - it means they were added.  So 'sacrifice' is not there.  It was added.

The other day, when perusing You Tube I saw the title on this video:  "The most sacred place for Jews - the Western Wall."  It's not the Temple Mount today because they don't have any real access to it.
The most sacred place for Jews -The Western Wall.Jerusalem.Israel. - YouTube
run time 00:17

The most sacred place for Jews today is the Western Wall.  The Jews do not have a Temple for the animal sacrifices.  As Gino pointed out - that ended a long time ago.  So with no Temple, no sacrifices, what is the 'daily' that the Jews do now - at 'the most sacred place' for the Jews today?  They pray.

What if Daniel 12:11 is about daily prayers?

Daniel 12:11 reads 'from the taking away of the daily and the abomination of desolation' is 1290 days.  So these things happen on the same day...the taking away of the daily AND the abomination of desolation all happen on the same day...then 1290 days later is 'the end'.

So, based on my above comments about the surrounding of Jerusalem by armies - when the Jews flee - the daily (prayers at the Wall) would certainly come to an end.  the Jews are told to flew when they see the armies surrounding Jerusalem/the abomination of desolation - so the prayers end with the 'abomination'.  It may take days to take the city - maybe 30 days before it falls to the AC?  Then the AC could start his reign of 1260 days and the Gentiles would trodden down the city for 1260 days etc etc....So the 30 days would come before the start of the 1260 days. ??

As for any dates....we have no new moon for the start of the month Nisan yet....but renewedmoon.com has the expected new moon sighting to be on Friday, March 20th. The Chabad calendar would be off one day.

Using Jewish calendars...April 2, 2026 is Passover....30 days before is Purim March 3, 2026.  This fits even with the sighted moon and the Jewish way of counting days.
Will the Rapture happen on this date?  With the 'taking away of the daily prayers' happen as 'Jerusalem will see her abomination that will cause her desolation/surrounded by armies'?  Will this start the 1290 day count?

With everything going on over there now...nothing would be a surprise.  Purim is next week.

Or it could just be the Rapture day.  Several letters have been written to Doves about Purim.

Thank you again for your letter, Gino!

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!

Maranatha~
