"Returning to animal sacrifices?"

(Is it possible that the abomination of desolation might be a judgement upon the return to animal sacrifices while still rejecting the Messiah and his sacrifice?)

Daniel 11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

Daniel 12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

(Do we think that when some in Israel rebuild the temple and restart animal sacrifices, that the LORD will be pleased with this, and his glory fill the temple?
The old covenant sacrifices never took away sins, but were types and shadows of the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus the Messiah.
Two thousand years ago, that generation of Israel rejected their Messiah and his sacrifice, and continued with the animal sacrifices for almost 40 more years.
But then, the temple was destroyed and the animal sacrifices ceased.
If the current generation of Israel restarts the animal sacrifices, while simultaneously rejecting their Messiah and his sacrifice, how can that be a good thing?)

(The priesthood has changed:)

Hebrews 7:22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

  17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

  11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

  12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

(The old covenant sacrifices, by the time of the writing of Hebrews, was ready to vanish away:)

Hebrews 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

Hebrews 7:18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

(The old covenant dealt with the worldly sanctuary:)

Hebrews 9:1 Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.

(Those sacrifices were a figure, and more so, a figure of "the time then present", which is now past:)

Hebrews 9:9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;

(Now there is only one sacrifice for sins, the sacrifice of Jesus:)

Hebrews 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

(After the sacrifice of Jesus, there is no more animal sacrifice offering for sin:)

Hebrews 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

(So, restarting animal sacrifices for sin, now, while rejecting their Messiah and his blood sacrifice, is not a good thing:)

Hebrews 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

(So, what if that is what may precipitate the abomination of desolation, and the persecution against the Jews, that follows that?
But like there were a number of Jews saved from Pentecost until 70 AD, there will be a remnant who will survive.
Will those spared possibly be the ones who will say, "Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the LORD", when Jesus returns?)
