In reply to your 3/12 post The 'Little Horn' (fivedoves.com) I do not think that the Little Horn of Daniel is a small nation with a small army nor do I think that the Little Horn is the Vatican City either.
Daniel 7:7 tells us that the beast had 10 horns (which turn out to be 10 kings so the Little Horn would have to be a little king or prince before he becomes a king which is a horn.)
Daniel 7:8 says, "I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things." Daniel 7:20 says, "And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows."
(So the Little Horn is a man with eyes and a mouth rather than a small nation or the Vatican City.)
Daniel 7:24 then tells us that the 10 horns on the beast are 10 kings so the Little Horn has to be a little king which is another name for the son of a King, and the son of the King is a Prince who cannot rise to power to become a King until his father, the King dies. Daniel 7:24 says, "And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings."
(The Little Horn shall rise after them after his father, the king is dead.)
In Daniel 7:25 the Little Horn is referred to as a "He" so he cannot be a small nation or the Vatican City because Daniel 7:25 says, "And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time." In fact he is referred to as "a king of fierce countenance and understanding dark sentences" in Daniel 8:23. Daniel 8:23 goes on to say, "And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people."
(So the Little Horn (son of a King who is a Prince) rises to power and becomes a king.)
