I
also explained in my 4/27 post
that the areas of land outside
the walls of the old city of
Jerusalem were considered
unclean and not holy, and that
was where the lepers were
sent, crucifixions took place
and where the Jewish people
were buried. The Mount of
Olives was not part of the old
city of Jerusalem during
Jesus' time although it is
considered a part of Jerusalem
now. The Mount of Olives is
well known for it being a
burial site. According to the
article "The Mount of
Olives Jewish Cemetery,[1]
located in Jerusalem, is the
largest and the oldest
historic Jewish cemetery in
the world. It is also
considered to be the most
holy Jewish cemetery in the
world. Having been in
continuous use for more than
3,000 years, the Mount of
Olives Jewish Cemetery
contains approximately [2]150,000
burials. The Mount
of Olives Jewish Cemetery is
also known as "The
City of the Dead",[3] in contrast
to the nearby city of Jerusalem,
which has been dubbed "The City of
Life". The close proximity to Jewish
Quarter of the Old City of
Jerusalem[4] is one of
the reasons that the Mount of
Olives was chosen as a burial
site."
So Jesus was
not referring to the Mount of
Olives outside the old city of
Jerusalem's walls as being 'the
holy place'
where the
abomination of desolation would be
standing according to Matthew
24:15. He was referring to the
"the holy place" inside the
temple. If you continue
reading this Bible passage from
Matt. 24:16-22, Matt. 24:21-22
states that Jesus said, "For then shall
be great tribulation, such
as was not since the
beginning of
the world to
this time, no, nor
ever shall
be. And except those days should
be shortened, there
should no flesh be
saved: but for the elect's
sake those days shall
be shortened." The "great
tribulation" in these verses
sounds like the great
tribulation of 3 1/2 years or
1,260 days with the 7 seals
being opened with war, famine
& death being released,
those being killed who won't
worship the image of the
Antichrist beast, the 7
trumpet judgments & the 7
vial or bowl judgments with a
great deal of mankind being
killed.
Since
Jesus said the abomination of
desolation would be standing
in "the holy place" according
to Matt. 24:15 and "standing
where it ought not" according
to Luke 13:14, He meant it
would be standing in "the holy
place" inside the temple which
is yet to be rebuilt. This is
backed up by 2 Thess. 2:3-4
which says, "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that
day shall not come, except there
come a falling
away first, and that
man of
sin be
revealed, the son of
perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself
above all that
is called God, or that
is worshipped; so that
he as God sitteth in the temple of
God, shewing himself that he
is God."
According to your 5/22
post you believe this to
be an Islamic temple
known as the Dome of the
Rock Mosque on the
Temple Mount that the
Antichrist will sit in.
However, when the
apostle Paul wrote these
verses inspired by the
Holy Spirit in about 51
AD, the Islamic religion
didn't even exist at the
time. It wasn't until
622 AD that the first
Islamic mosque was built
according to the article
at Masjid
Quba | The First
Mosque in Islam |
Pilgrim so
Paul was not talking
about an Islamic
temple (mosque) for
the god Allah that the
Antichrist will be
sitting in. Paul
was referring to the
Temple of God that is
going to be built in
Jerusalem by the
Jewish people for the
Lord God of Israel,
the God of Abraham,
Isaac & Jacob, and
their daily animal
sacrifices for the
atonement of their
sins will be taken
away once again.
According
to an article dated
8/29/2016 the Sanhedrin
Appoints High Priest in
Preparation for Third Temple -
Israel365 News "A significant
step was recently taken towards
reinstating the Temple service
when the nascent Sanhedrin selected Rabbi Baruch
Kahane as the next Kohen Gadol (high priest). The
selection was made as a precaution
for Yom Kippur. If the political
conditions should change, allowing
the Jews access to the Temple
Mount, they will be required by
Torah law to bring the sacrifices.
Rabbi Kahane is confident that if
that should happen, Temple service
could begin in less than one
week."
"When
asked how long
it would take to
begin sacrifices
if it suddenly
became
permissible, he
considered
carefully before
answering. “If
the government
decided to
permit it, it
would only take
a few weeks to
make
preparations,
even to do the
Yom Kippur
service,” he
said."
“The
structures can
be temporary
and prepared
almost
overnight. The
biggest
obstacle is
educating the
kohanim,
which we are
taking care of
already. Once
the priests
are thoroughly
educated,
choosing a Kohen
Gadol and
teaching him
what he needs
to know for
the Yom Kippur
service is
relatively
simple and
will take one
week. The
Temple Service
performed by
the Kohen
Gadol is
very
demanding, but
for an
educated kohen,
it is not
overly
difficult to
learn to serve
as the Kohen
Gadol.”
