"Renee M.....shortness of days....a simpler explanation"

Renee,      http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/july2013/reneem72-1.htm

Without discounting or critiquing your beliefs or the ones you posted from the internet concerning the days being shortened during the tribulation period...........could there be a much simpler answer to this conundrum?

Let me explain.....
Jesus said in Matthew 24:21-22....."For then there will be great tribulation such such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elects sake those days will be shortened."

The way I interpret verse 22 is that the total number of days is shortened........ rather than the shortening of an individual day.

Is there scripture to back up my premise?

Daniel in chapter 12 speaks of this same period of tribulation. Daniel is told by an angel in this chapter that persecution (trouble) such as never seen before will fall on "the sons of your people", your nation (Israel), or the holy people......... referring to Israel and the Jews. The angel states that this persecution will last for a time, times and half a time or 1260 days. At that point (after 1260 days) this nation and holy people will be "completely shattered" as per verse 7. Notice that it was completely "shattered"........ not completely "destroyed".

After the angel had told Daniel this, Daniel replied that he did not understand. Then Daniel asked this same angel......Then what will be the end of these things or the end of this era? The angel replied...... "that from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away and the abomination of desolation (statue) is "set up" there shall be 1290 days".......to the end of this period.

So this establishes a firm time line, that the abomination of desolation is "set up"  1290 days or 43 months before the end of the era. This is a critical time line because three other time periods start from this time line. And those are.....

1) Jews hiding in the wilderness for......................... 1260days    Rev.12:6
2) Gentiles in control (treading) the Holy City for..... 1260 days    Rev.11:2
3) Jews under persecution of the antichrist...............1260 days   Dan.12:7

Notice that all three of these events are caused by the antichrist.  And notice also that the events start at the same time point and end at the same time point.

What is the only thing that could end all of these events at the same time? The return of Christ on His white horse to defeat the antichrist as per Rev.19:11-21.

So this establishes that His return stops all three of these events after 1260 days from when the abomination of desolation is "set up" in the holy place in Jerusalem.

But God has already told us that the total time period from the set up of the abomination to the end of the period was 1290 days.  Dan.12:11

So easy math tells us that God intervened to save His holy people from complete eradication 30 days from the end of the era. (1290-1260=30)

So, did God shorten the total number of persecution days keeping the holy people from being completely eradicated by the antichrist? Yes, He shortened the time period by 30 days fulfilling what He said in Matthew 24:22.

If anyone is looking for a simpler explanation for Matthew 24:22 I believe this is it.

Renee, I sketched out and graphed an end time overview from the timings God gave us in scripture. I will put a link of it below. It's just a hand written sketch and certainly not of the caliber of your colorful and intricate diagrams from your wonderful posts......but I think you will get the concept.

Blessings.......John B
