Some people just can't get an idea out of their head ones it gets in there, even if that idea is wrong or old.  I suspect that is part of what is behind a few issues recently.

For many centuries, the Catholic Church had an ENORMOUS amount of influence behind the scenes with many European monarchs.  They often chose who would be the next king in many countries.

Napolean knew that in order to fulfill his dream of ruling the world, he would have to break the power of the Vatican.  So he put the pope in prison.  Since then, the Catholic Church seems to scaled back their attempts to control world leaders.  They know they can't raise an army to defend the Vatican from the French or Germany or Spain or Italy or much of anyone else for that matter.  So they have withdrawn from a lot of the meddling they used to do because they just don't have the military muscle to pull it off  in our modern age.  World leaders can feel free to ignore the Vatican without worry of negative consequences at all in our modern post-Napolean age.

But old ideas die hard.  And there's still people out there who think nothing has changed and the Catholic Church runs the show behind the scenes.  Why?.....because they USED TO in much of Europe.  And everybody wants to...I mean.....Tears for Fears told us that, right?  But I think they learned that by trying to meddle in politics, they run the risk of losing influence in spiritual sense.  They no longer run the show in England. 

And as many recent turns of events have shown (see http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/nov2014/jovial1130-2.htm) the evidence seems to be they just don't have much influence.

But because so many people are so used to a history of CENTURIES in which Rome pulled a lot of strings with a lot of European monarchs, they can't get it out of their head that this isn't still going on. 

I suspect the same thing is responsible for the ALL CAPS controversy I discussed at http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/nov2014/jovial1130-1.htm .  There are probably people out there that read it or heard it somewhere and believed it, simply because there was no evidence to the contrary and they know good and well their government is always up to no good.  And if you have believed that for 5 or 10 years, and the first time you see evidence to the contrary (such as what I posted at http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/nov2014/jovial119-5.htm), it is so against what has taken root in your thinking about how The Evil Shadow Government works that people reject it despite the black and white nature of the evidence.  Old ideas die hard, even when they are wrong.  But sometimes they are wrong.

Don't be a prisoner to an old idea just because you've believed it for ages.  If it is wrong, you need to discard that idea.

Personally, it would not shock me if the ALL CAPS issue WERE true.  Sounds like something the "Mi1itary Industria1 complex" would do (as Ike put it).  But our courts do not recognize it as valid, that is for sure.  It would not shock me if Rome WAS trying to pull strings behind the scenes.  I bet they do indeed lobby politicians.  But they are not getting results.  I think the milk lobby has more influence.  Monsanto DEFINITELY has more influence than the Vatican.

These theories may have some level of legitimacy in the sense that the allegations of what people have TRIED TO do is true.  What is not legit is whether success is part of the story.  Don't look like it to me.
