The word month originates from the word moon.

I am wondering if 42 months refers to 42 months in the Gregorian calendar, or if it refers to 42 literal moon cycles?

One Moon-cycle is 29.5 days in length.

If it refers to literal moon-cycles: 42x 29.5 days = 1239 days
