We are taught to pray “Thy Kingdom come” so that God‘s will can be done on earth. Also Jesus says, “no one knows the day or the hour” of his return.
At that time we Christians will be in our eternal state and will rule over cities, Luke 19:17.
Those cities will be populated by people who come to faith in Christ and live through the Tribulation. After the “sheep and the goat judgments” of Matt. 25:31-34 Jesus will tell them, “inherit the Kingdom prepared for you…” These mortals will live as long as trees, there will be death, and also the lion will lay down with the lamb stuff.
Isaiah 65:17 “Look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth…
20 …No longer will adults die before they have lived a full life.
No longer will people be considered old at one hundred! Only the cursed will die that young!
22 For my people will live as long as trees…
23 …For they are people blessed by the LORD, and their children, too, will be blessed.
25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together. The lion will eat hay like a cow.
Acts 1:3 During the forty days after his crucifixion, Jesus appeared to the apostles from time to time…And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God.
6 So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?”
7 He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times.”
