"abortion"

In case it may have seemed that I might be a little left-leaning about abortion, I'm not.
Before I was saved, I thought like the world.
But since I have been saved, I have believed that abortion is a sin.
This is the way that I have come to think about abortion, based on the scriptures:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Genesis 33:5c And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.

(The LORD gives children to us - we don't actually make them ourselves.)

Psalms 127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

(Children, even while in the womb, are a gift, the heritage that the LORD gives us.)

I Samuel 1:20 Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.

(The time, after conceiving, until the birth, is 9 months, the time of pregnancy.)

II Samuel 11:5 And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.

(Instead of saying, "I'm pregnant", she said "I'm with child"; so as soon a woman conceives, she's with child, which is not part of her body.)

Luke 1:36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

(At the end of her 2nd trimester, the scriptures say what Elisabeth conceived is a son, not part of her body.)

Job 3:16 Or as an hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw light.

(During the pregnancy, they're called infants, not parts of their mothers' bodies.)

(The LORD formed David in his mother's womb, and all the members of his body were written before David was even born.)

Psalms 139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Ecclesiastes 11:5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

(The scriptures say that a child is in the womb, not a part of the woman's body.)

Genesis 25:22a And the children struggled together within her;

23a And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb,

(Called children in the womb, not parts of her body; and while still in the womb, the LORD, himself, called them two nations.)

Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

(The LORD knew, sanctified, and ordained Jeremiah, while he still in his mother's womb.)

Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

23a Behold, a virgin shall be with child,

(When Mary was pregnant, the scriptures say that she was with child.)

Luke 1:15b  and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.

41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

(At the end of Elizabeth's 2nd trimester, when she heard Mary, the babe, John the Baptist, responded to the voice, and leaped in her womb.)

Psalms 22:10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly.

(David, even as a baby in his mother's womb, had some connection with the LORD.)

Luke 1:42b  and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

(Elizabeth said to Mary, who had just become pregnant, "blessed is the fruit of thy womb".

Jesus, at that time, was NOT a lifeless bunch of tissue, but a living baby, from the moment of conception.)

Judges 13:7 But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death.

(For Samson to be a Nazarite from the womb, he could have no fruit of the vine, apparently even from the umbilical cord.

Therefore, his mother had to abstain from the fruit of the vine throughout the 9 months of pregnancy.)

Ruth 1:11c  are there yet any more sons in my womb,

(Naomi used the expression, "sons in my womb".)

Job 31:15 Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?

(The LORD makes and fashions us in the womb, we were not parts of our mothers' bodies.)

Isaiah 44:24a Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things;

Isaiah 46:3b  which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb:

(The LORD forms and carries us inside our mothers; we were not lifeless lumps of tissue, parts of our mothers' bodies.)

Isaiah 49:1b The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.

5a And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant,

(The LORD called and named Isaiah, while he was still in his mother's womb.)

(Mothers have a natural relationship with their babies:)

I Kings 3:24 And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.

25 And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.

26 Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.

27 Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.

(The real mother naturally cared for her baby.)

II Timothy 3:3a Without natural affection,

(The scriptures also mention, "without natural affection", which happened to some women in Israel, when the nation turned from the LORD:)

II Kings 6:25a And there was a great famine in Samaria:

28 And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.

29 So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.

(Only when the natural affection is gone, could any mother do that; when a sinful nation is turned over to reprobate minds.)

(The commandment forbids murder:)

Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.

Matthew 19:18b Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder,

(The most innocent and precious time of life is when one is a baby, and even more innocent while the baby is in the womb.

So, what do evil spirits, and the invisible enemy, drive people to do, even to the innocent, defenseless children in the womb?)

II Kings 8:12f  and rip up their women with child.

II Kings 15:16c and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up.

Hosea 13:16e and their women with child shall be ripped up.

Amos 1:13b because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead,

(Those were forced abortions upon the children of Israel.)

Exodus 21:22 If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.

(The law said it was a crime to hurt a pregnant woman, causing her child to die; calling the baby a child, not a fetus.

The word fetus is a Latin word, which originally meant, "offspring", not a lump of lifeless tissue.)

(What about when a nation does like Israel did, shedding the blood of innocents, like our nation has?

There have been over 65 million abortions since 1973, and there were abortions in the U.S. before that.

What does the LORD think about the shedding of innocent blood?)

Deuteronomy 19:10 That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.

II Kings 24:4 And also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.

Psalms 106:38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.

Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

Jeremiah 2:34 Also in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents: I have not found it by secret search, but upon all these.

Jeremiah 22:17 But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

Isaiah 26:21 For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

Ezekiel 24:6a Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city,

Ezekiel 35:6 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.

(Then likely similar to what happened to Israel:)

Matthew 23:35a That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth.

(Do the souls of the aborted babies, now in heaven, cry out similar to the martyrs?)

Revelation 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

(But what if our nation refuses to repent of the murders of abortion?)

Revelation 9:21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

(Then it likely may be similar to this:)

Revelation 16:6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.

(Where the nation gets blood for blood.)

(Why we shouldn't ever want to be an abortionist doctor:)

Deuteronomy 27:25a Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person.

***

(Before Roe v Wade, I was in college in Chicago, and a couple of high school kids, had goofed around, and the girl got pregnant.

They were too young to even think about doing anything, but since I worked with one of them, I offered my evil opinions.

I counseled them to deceive their parents, to go to New York with fake IDs, and get an abortion.

They did, and their parents never knew - but the she never was able to have a baby again, because of complications.

Since they were so young, there were only two people that had blood on their hands - the doctor and me.

However, some years later, the gospel came to me, and I was saved, and Jesus forgave me of that hideous sin, of counseling them.)

***

(Not only will Jesus judge the bloody nation for all the abortions, but he will save the remaining children at the same time:)

Psalms 72:4b  he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.

(Our nation needs to repent of the abortions, that we as a nation are guilty of, and turn to Jesus for forgiveness:)

Deuteronomy 21:8 Be merciful, O LORD, unto thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and lay not innocent blood unto thy people of Israel’s charge. And the blood shall be forgiven them.

9 So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.

(Those for abortion say the baby is only lifeless tissue, but the scriptures make it clear that a living child is in the womb.

Those for abortion say it is protecting a woman's reproductive rights, but the scriptures make it clear, that it is murder.

Those for abortion say it is "pro-choice" to abort, but the LORD says to choose the right way:)

Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
