If you look at the photo at Kamala Harris is sworn in as vice president by Supreme Court Justice... News Photo - Getty Images and enlarge the photo, you will see that she was sworn in on a black colored Bible with the words "Holy Bible" on the side binding with another brown book beneath it. It was not her purse that she was sworn in on although the Bible has a zipper on it.
