Dear John and those who "stand valiantly" -
This is a response to Gino - http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/aug2022/gino828-2.htm -
All the transgressions you listed are nailed to the cross. There is therefore NO CONDEMNATION for those who are in Christ Jesus. NONE.
We don't decide if we're "good enough" because the goodness of Jesus Christ is imputed to us. Rather, we decide if we're MATURE ENOUGH. Are we manifesting the fruit of the Spirit? Or have we grown the noxious weeds listed in Gal. 5:19-21? John told us there would be some who will be ashamed before Him when He comes. He commanded us - for our own good! - to "grow up in all things in Christ" but some prefer to be bottle-suckers. They believed the LIE that all Jesus wants is for us to "believe" and that discipleship, obedience and maturity are optional.
Bible or boob tube?
Coarse jesting or that which edifies?
The dignity of Christ in us ... or the squalor that the world offers?
This is why I suggested the "Aischynō Option."
Please read it and feel free to push back if you disagree. It won't hurt my feelings.
Best,
Steve
