Hi -
As you know, there is a theory out there in the eschatosphere that the Christians remain on the earth during an anticipated seven years of misery, but are divinely-protected from God's wrath, while His wrath is visited on the unbelievers on planet earth. Presumably God seals us because we are His servants, so the same seal the 144,000 receive is also administered to us. Those who survive the seven years are then raptured post-trib, meet the Lord in the air, and then return with Him to earth.
Or something, I guess.
But let's take the post-tribbers at their word, and imagine we believers are here on the earth. And I guess while the Beast is given authority over everyone, including the tribulation saints, we either dodge the bullets until the rapture at the end, OR the Beast finally traps us and we're executed. But until we're caught and killed, we are somehow insulated from God's wrath.
However, while we're protected, our unbelieving family members and neighbors are not. It's the Fifth Trumpet, and locust-scorpions have been turned loose on the earth to terrorize and wreak havoc. Now, regular scorpions can't fly, but these critters apparently can. And while a mosquito can cause some discomfort, THESE dudes are like flying scorpions and their sting is so painful the recipient would rather die.
You're immune but your unsaved spouse is not. Your unsaved kids are not. Your unsaved neighbors are not. And at 2 AM one of them gets stung. You get to watch and listen as a loved one writhes and shrieks in agony, longing to die.
How does that make you feel?
I really don't think God would let us stay on earth as spectators as His wrath is poured out.
Steve
