"Armageddon"

Who will fight in Armageddon? Jesus Christ will lead a heavenly army to defeat God's enemies ( Revelation 19:11-16, 19-21 ). Those enemies include those who oppose God's authority and have no respect for him

( Ezekiel 39:7 ).

Will Armageddon be fought literally in the Middle East? No. The war of Armageddon will not be confined to one area, but will take place over the whole earth ( Jeremiah 25:32-34; Ezekiel 39:17-20 ).

Armageddon (Hebrew: Har Meghiddōn ʹ ) means “Mountain of Megiddo ”. Megiddo was a city in ancient Israel. History shows that decisive battles were fought in the vicinity of that city, some of which are recorded in the Bible ( Judges 5:19, 20; 2 Kings 9:27; 23:29 ). But Armageddon cannot literally mean the area near ancient Megiddo. There is no GREAT mountain there, and even the adjacent Jezreel Valley does not provide enough space for all the people who will fight against God. Instead, Armageddon is the global situation in which the political powers unite in their final opposition to God's rule.

How will the war of Armageddon unfold? We don't know how God will use His power, but we do know that he has "weapons" that he has used in the past—hail, earthquakes, cloudbursts, fire, brimstone, lightning, and disease ( Job 38:22, 23; Ezekiel 38:19, 22; Habakkuk 3:10, 11; Zechariah 14:12 ). Some of God's enemies will kill each other in confusion, but eventually they will realize that it is God who fights against them ( Ezekiel 38:21, 23; Zechariah 14:13 ).
