Quake Watchers

 

 

Seismic activity remains relatively high, but there are some contradictory signs that mean we have an aberration in the patterns that makes forecasting somewhat difficult at the current time. I think we are still building toward a very large earthquake, but there has been a delay in the time frame. Find out more in tonight's Earthquake Forecasting Principles section.

 

Hawaii had a tremendous surge in the number of quakes the past 48 hours with more than double the already high numbers in what appears to be a run-up to a new eruption of Kilauea volcano. I had been warning of this likelihood for many weeks. Now the scientists are seeing the same thing and it is making news. See the Links & Resources section for more information.
