We've seen a significant upward spike of big quakes in the last few hours, with the big M7.1 quake in Mexico the highest magnitude.

I have the link to the Twitter feed in the Links & Resources section of tonight's update which captures the phenomenon known as "earthquake lights" so please take a look at this weird electro-magnetic flashing that sometimes accompanies large quakes.

I am still waiting for confirmation about the phantom M6.5 quake that may have occurred on the north end of the Cascadia subduction zone today and also the M4.2 quake that occurred in the New Madrid seismic zone in southeastern Missouri tonight after the big M7.1 quake in Mexico.

Like I said earlier, the seismic patterns the past few weeks have been strangely out of the ordinary, and this seems to be bringing larger magnitude quakes on a delayed basis.
