Re: Donna Danna (5 Sept 2021) Answer: What Sacrifice Does Jesus Cause to Cease in the Midst Daniel’s 70th Week?

Donna:

God in Christ will “cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease” in the midst of the 70th week.  If you open the Blue Letter Bible (BLB) to Daniel 9:27 and click on the Interlinear/Concordance tab you will find the Hebrew words which were translated into the English language in the early 1600’s, the authorized version of the KJB.

According to the BLB, the English word “sacrifice” originated from the Hebrew word “zebah” and the English word “oblation” originated from the Hebrew word “minha”.   These are Strong’s Hebrew words H2077 and H4503.   Check this out in the BLB.

The following is based on my research:

Zebach Offering: A Peace Offering

The Zebach is a peace offering. The Hebrew term for the peace offerings is Zebach Sh'lamim. Sh'lamim is related to shalom meaning peace or wholeness. A

peace offering is an offering thanking God for restoring the worshiper to a state of wholeness with Him, for being at peace with God and having fellowship with Him. A portion of this offering is burned on the altar, a portion given to the priests and the balance eaten by the offeror and family. This may include an animal flesh offering. This category of offerings includes Thanksgiving Offerings, Free Will Offerings and offerings after the fulfillment of a vow. A peace or thanksgiving offering is an appropriate form of worship of Him who alone is worthy of praise and thanksgiving.

Minchah Offering: A Food Offering

The Minchah offering is a grain offering. Minchah refers to an offering from the fruits of the soil. This offering was usually comprised of fine flour made from

wheat grain. This offering represented the fruits of the farmer's labor from tilling the soil, tending the plants, harvesting, threshing and grinding. A portion of the offering was burned in the fire of the altar and the balance given to the priests. The Minchah offering acknowledged that God is responsible for our jobs, skill, labor and strength. The Zebach and Minchah class of offerings have no relationship to sin offerings.

So, Daniel 9:27 does not speak to any sin offerings based on the Hebrew words spoken through the prophet Daniel, as affirmed by Jesus in Matthew 24:15.

Chatah Offering: A Sin Offering

The Hebrew term for the sin offering is "chatah" which means to "sin" or to "miss the mark". The first use of this term is found in Genesis 4:7. In this verse the

word "chatta'ah is used for sin and sin offering. The second time we find it is in Genesis 18:20 where it is used to describe the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah. Neither,

the Hebrew word "chatah" nor "chatt'ah" is used in Daniel 9:27. The verse 27 sacrifice and oblation offerings are not sin offerings. Therefore, they do not impose on Jesus' atoning work on the cross.

This “Chatah” word is not found in Daniel 9:27, a verse known to Jesus.

Why does God in Christ Cease the sacrifice and oblation offerings?

My additional commentary is bracketed. [   ]   The underlined verses provide the reasons why God in Christ ceases these future offerings.

Isaiah 42:

6I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people [speaking of Messiah], for a light of the Gentiles;

7To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

8I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

Isaiah 48:

10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction [speaking to the Jews in Daniel’s 70th week].

11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.

12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.

God in Christ will not tolerate His Holy name defiled and associated with any form of idolatry.  He never has and never will.

Commentary and Opinion:

It is my opinion and I speculate, that following the removal of the Church, at a future Pentecost (See note 1), a day and hour known only to God, Daniel’s 70th week will commence.  (We are encouraged to speculate because Daniel’s prophecy is a counting prophecy and the prophets did also inquire and surely speculate about the first coming of Christ.  (1 Peter 1:11)   The Magi figured it out the season of His first appearance.  We speculate about the season of His appearance in Glory.

It is my opinion that following the Resurrection/Rapture event, at the Festival of Trumpets (See note 2), the two witnesses will likely appear at the Wailing Wall if there is no temple. They will likely be Moses and Elijah, representing the law and the prophets. Luke 16:31 states: “And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”

The Church’s removal will engender the jealousy of the Jews. (Romans 11:11; Deuteronomy 32:21) They should be sufficiently motivated to build their temple.  Remember God said “in their affliction they will seek Me early.” (Hosea 5:15)  The Jews will be seeking God at this temple.  The Tribulation Temple will be rebuilt because Jesus implies “the holy place” is present during Daniel’s 70th week. (Matthew 24:15)  The holy place is in the temple and it will be defiled by the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet.

Keep in mind while the Church is on Earth, Christ’s own are God’s living temples.  This is why the Jews cannot rebuild their Temple.  During the Church Age true believers are where God is present on Earth. (1 Corinthians 3:316-17)   After all believers are removed, God’s presence on Earth will be represented by the Jewish Tribulation Temple.  Do not expect God to indwell the Temple, but expect the Jews to seek their God on Mt. Moriah at the Tribulation temple.  God is going to call out His remnant Jewish believers in Christ during Daniel’s 70th week.   Surely, Moses and Elijah will be telling them who Yeshua IS.  HE IS THEIR MESSIAH.

Note 1.  There are three feasts of the Lord.  These are the “chag” pilgrimage feasts of Unleavened Bread, Pentecost and Tabernacles.  The other four festivals of Leviticus 23 are “moed” or appointed times.  The “chag” are appointed times which required all males to appear at the Temple with an offering to the Lord.  Jesus was resurrected during the Feast of Unleavened Bread at the festival of “First Fruits”.  The Temple priests were offering the “sheaf of grain” to God on resurrection Sunday because Jesus was the grain seed which had to die to produce much fruit. (John 12:24)  He is represented symbolically by the sheaf of grain raised up to God.  On the first Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was given to all believers in Christ commencing the Church Age.  It is essentially Pentecost every day since then because God in Christ has been saving his people every day.   The Age of Pentecost will end at the Resurrection/Rapture event.   Biblically, on Pentecost the Temple priests took the grain seed and made two loaves of bread and offered them up to God as thanks giving for the harvest. (Leviticus 23:15-17)  The Church is represented by the two loaves.  One loaf is the resurrection of the dead in Christ and the other the transformation and rapture of the living in Christ.(1 Corinthians 15:52; 1 Thessalonians 4:17)  This event terminates the Age of Pentecost setting the stage for Daniel’s 70th week.  Paul tells us that the free gift of the Holy Spirit is the earnest deposit against the promise of transforming our bodies into Christ-like bodies. (2 Corinthians 1:22; Ephesians 1:14; Romans 8:19)  It is a two-stage promise, down payment of the Spirit followed by final payment of a redeemed sinless body.

Note 2.  The Festival of Trumpets is known as the memorial day of blowing trumpets.  Blowing trumpets was often performed as a warning of the impending judgment and day of the Lord. (Joel 2:1-2; Exodus 19:16; Joshua 6:15-17; Zephaniah 1:14-18; Revelation 8:6-8)  It is my opinion that the memorial blowing of trumpets following the Resurrection/Rapture will herald the commencement of Daniel’s 70th week.   I believe the fall festivals of Trumpets, Atonement and Tabernacles are all associated with Daniel’s 70th week and the Second Coming of Christ.
