"Donna's Sep 12 Post"

Dear Donna,

I read your link on the Holy Spirit (Sep 12).  It doesn’t surprise me that over 60% of church-goers deny the personage, even existence of the Holy Spirit.  We are living in the era of the Laodicean church, which signals corruption and unsound doctrine, leading to the return of our glorious God and Savior – Jesus Christ!

In 2017, I came to know the Holy Spirit in a fuller and much more accurate way.  Specifically, although I already believed it mentally, I was shown the feminine nature and motherly attributes of the Spirit of God.  Holy Spirit is translated Ruach in Hebrew, which is always feminine in gender.  Also in Aramaic, the language spoken by Jesus, the word for Spirit is feminine (RUCHE). Whenever He referred to the Holy Spirit, He did so in the feminine tense.  In all New Testament references, the Greek is either neuter gender or feminine, in spite of the translators using "he" to describe Holy Spirit.  Proverbs 8, according to the majority of theologians, refers to the Holy Spirit.  In this Proverb, the object is consistently referred to in the feminine sense.

Johannes van Oort writes: “The earliest Christians – all of whom were Jews – spoke of the Holy Spirit as a feminine figure. The present article discusses the main proof texts, ranging from the ‘Gospel according to the Hebrews’ to a number of testimonies from the second century. The ancient tradition was, in particular, kept alive in East and West Syria, up to and including the fourth century Makarios and/or Symeon, who even influenced ‘modern’ Protestants such as John Wesley and the Moravian leader Count von Zinzendorf. It is concluded that, in the image of the Holy Spirit as woman and mother, one may attain a better appreciation of the fullness of the Divine.”  http://www.scielo.org.za/pdf/hts/v72n1/26.pdf#:~:text=An%20essential%20background%20to%20the%20occurrence%20of%20the,Aramaic%20the%20word%20for%20Spirit%2C%20rucha%2C%20is%20feminine.

Be blessed,

Greg
