Who are the people getting stung?

Revelation 9:3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
  4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

Will this be localized, or will it be happening all over the world?
Will children be getting stung?
It did say, "only those men".
Does that mean only men, or is that generic, meaning only humans?
This is written 4 chapters before the description of people taking the mark of the beast.
So, the stinging doesn't appear to be related to that, or is it?

As for those not stung, it would be those 144,00 of the tribes of Israel, who have the seal of God in their foreheads, correct?

Revelation 7:3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
  4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

So, in the post-trib and pre-wrath scenarios, Christians also will be getting stung, unless they are part of the 144,000?
Also, with a split blessed hope, those left behind will be getting stung as well?
It doesn't mention the locusts not stinging people who have been sealed by the Holy Ghost, or people who have been saved.
What would be the recommendation for Christians having to face 5 months of stinging locust torment?
