"Changes brought as we
approach our Lord's Return"
Hi John,
I so look forward to our face to face meeting with all the
saints-both the now living and those who have preceded us.
The wife of the federal judge who mentored me as a newlywed felt
that we were on the cusp of the Lord's return...that was over
fifty years ago. I have had the privilege of teaching the
Word to adults for over 35 years. Even at 73, I am
teaching a weekly study at an Assisted Living Facility. A
friend is the chaplain there and she told me that my ministry is
not over.
Early on, I had the privilege of founding what became a Bible
Study of over 500 women and I taught it for five years until I
had to have major surgery. Next, after recovering, I was
asked to accept a position on the pastoral staff of a large
metropolitan Bible Church. That ministry also lasted five
years. At that point, I was approached to take over as
Executive Director of a number of pro life counseling centers
the metro area. That ministry also lasted five years. At
that point I succumbed to what has been now classified as a
disease called chronic fatigue.
I pursued a study natural supplements and began a slow
recovery (since the area medical school had no answers for
me). I was then asked by my doctor why I did not become a
doctor.
God has been good to our family. All three of our "kids"
(now middle aged adults) have walked with the Lord without
wavering. Our son has been a church elder, our daughters
have also had leadership roles in teaching Bible studies.
Our grandchildren have attended Christian schools and walk with
the Lord.
Still, I have never seen in all of my years, the enemy attack
more severely. He knows that his time is nearing an end
and he will soon be chained for a thousand years.
Wherever there is a weak place on a believer's armor, the enemy
aims his fiery arrows. I have seen men become involved in
pornography whose walk was firm ten years ago.
This is a time that we must stay close to the Lord.
Many of us look to this fall with anticipation as a significant
Jewish holiday approaches. Rosh hashanah is an
unfulfilled holiday, awaiting our possible rapture.
Certainly, the Lord urges us to be alert and watchful as the
time approaches.
I have always said that we have to keep one foot on the dock
(paying attention to our earthly responsibilities) and one foot
on the boat (ready to depart).
Natural disasters which have been unprecedented in the US, bring
many of us to tears as we see how Harvey has devastated our
land.
After 50 million innocents have been aborted, the country is due
for judgment. We had a ministry devoted to the healing of
women who had abortions and it was a life changing thing to see
restoration come about.
We are called to love those who seeking healing and be wary of
those who have walked away from our loving Lord.
The consequences of turning a person's back on so great a
salvation cannot be calculated. Perhaps for a believer,
that is the description of those whose rewards have been
consumed in flames. It is a fearful thing to fail to keep
our commitment to the Lord to walk closely with him.
I once sat on an airplane next to a young man who admitted
that he was not really walking with the Lord, though he had made
a commitment to do so. I asked him if he thought that it
was God speaking to him that I happened to be sitting next to
him. He said it was not a coincidence, and promised to
renew his walk with God and not stray.
I don't know how much time we have left. I just know that
we are ripe for judgment as a nation and as an unbelieving
world.
Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus! Looking forward to
meeting you all in the clouds,
Judy Morford
