"Gino - Thank You"

Hi Gino,

I can't wait to meet you. You give such thought to stuff that passes the rest of us, by. You also strike me as one of life's beautiful innocents. You probably don't see yourself like that !

Your posts from today (September 3rd, 2017) titled "I had to Respond" and "Bleeding Heart Liberal". How funny - you are the furthest from a bleeding heart liberal, Gino. But you made a very valid point. Several of them, in fact. The tearing down of these confederate statues may seem ghastly to we conservatives. But, at the end of the day.......... who were these people, really? What are they being honoured for? And to make a graven image of them - in remembrance of them......... well, the mind doth do somersaults. I do a little digging into the greats like Winston Churchill, Abe Lincoln, JFK, Maggie Thatcher etc., etc. They ain't so great.... believe me. However, we are not required to bow down and worship them. Not like the Roman Catholic penchant for bowing down and worshiping plaster cast statues of the virgin Mary or mindlessly trancing one's way through a repetitive rosary. The statues of these perceived "heroes" are neither here nor there. They simply mark a passing of historical and monumental importance. Hence - it IS stupid to destroy them. Rather "relocate" them, if the new age of human finds them currently offensive.

Still - if destroying statues is their thing.... I'd rather they do that than hurt their fellow human beings.

God Bless you, Gino
