ISIAH 1711 ah ab
COMMON 83
Your
country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land,
strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown
by strangers.
And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of
Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria,
and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem
to war against it, but could not prevail against it.
Ask thee a sign of the Lord thy God; ask it in the depth, or in the height above.
The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
In
the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt
thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the
day of grief and of desperate sorrow.
But the Lord said unto me, Say
not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and
whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
The word that came to
Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, Is this house, which is called by my
name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it,
saith the Lord.
The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and
with the point of a diamond: it is graven upon the table of their heart,
and upon the horns of your alters;
As a partridge sitteth on eggs,
and hatchet them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall
leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.
All
the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the
men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed
against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee:
there is none understanding in him.
And they said every one to his
fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause
this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah.
And
all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the
hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof
will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and
they shall return to the hire of an harlot.
WOE is me ! for I am as
when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the
vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe
fruit.
In the day that thy walls are to be built, in that day shall the decree be far removed.
Hold
thy peace at the presence of the Lord God: for the day of the Lord is
at hand: for the Lord hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests.
Upon
the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month
Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the Lord unto
Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,
And
it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the
Lord came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in
Chisleu;
But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear.
