"To the churches, and their leaders."

To All:
I wanted to write about how for the first time, I was shown a date in a dream. A date for an "Awakening". You can read about that dream here:

Instead, the Holy Spirit has led me to post some quotes from A.W. Tozer, regarding the Holy Spirit in the churches. There has been a line of such men, led by the Spirit in the churches, in leadership roles, who have often times been maligned while they are alive, yet their teachings stand the test of time. THIS is the True church....The one that is led by the Holy Spirit.

Lord, Speak through these words to those who read them.

THE PROBLEM

“There is today no lack of Bible teachers to set forth correctly the principles of the doctrine of Christ, but too many of these seem satisfied to teach the fundamentals of the faith year after year, strangely unaware that there is in their ministry no manifest Presence, nor anything unusual in their personal lives. They minister constantly to believers who feel within their breast a longing which their teaching simply does not satisfied"
(The Pursuit of God, A.W.Tozer)

“Because we have shut out the Holy Spirit in so many ways, we are stumbling along as though we are spiritually blindfolded.”
(Tragedy in the Church, A.W. Tozer)

“I say that a Christian congregation can survive and often appear to prosper in the community by the exercise of human talent and without any touch from the Holy Spirit! All that religious activity and the dear people will not know anything better until the great and terrible day when our self-employed talents are burned with fire and only that which was wrought by the Holy Ghost will stand forever!”
(Tragedy in the Church, AWT)

“It is time for us to seek again the leadership of the Holy Spirit. Man’s lordship has cost us too much. Man’s intrusive will has introduced such a multiplicity of unspiritual ways and unscriptural activities as positively to threaten the life of the Church. These divert annually millions of dollars from the true work of God and waste Christian man-hours in such vast numbers as to be heartbreaking.”
(The Divine Conquest, AWT)

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT NOW?

“If you are living far from God, yet hoping you are saved, you are in the rut. If you are not progressing, if you are where you were months or years ago, if you have settled down and learned to live with yourself and adjusted to your present spiritual state, you are in the rut. There are some reasons why it is imperative that we as a church and as individuals get out, and get moving on our way to a better spiritual life.”
(Rut, Rot, & Revival, AWT)

In its struggle to free itself from the tyranny of the natural world, the human heart must learn to translate upward the language the Spirit uses to instruct us.”
(The Knowledge of the Holy, AWT)

“The fellowship of God is delightful beyond all telling. He communes with His redeemed ones in an easy, uninhibited fellowship that is restful and healing to the soul. He remembers our frame and knows that we are dust. He may sometimes chasten us, it is true, but even this He does with a smile, the proud, tender smile of a Father who is bursting with pleasure over an imperfect but promising son who is coming every day to look more and more like the One whose child he is.”
(The Roots of Righteousness, AWT)

"In My sober judgment the relation of the Spirit to the believer is the most vital question the church faces today. The problems raised by Christian Existentialism or neo-orthodoxy are nothing by comparison to this most critical one. Ecumenicity, eschatological theories- None of these theories deserve consideration until every believer can give an affirmative answer to the question, "Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?"
And it might easily be that after we have been filled with the Spirit we will find to our delight that the very filling itself has solved the other problems for us."
(Keys to a Deeper Life, AWT)

Thanks to the following site for all but the last quote:

Our Awakening can only occur, when we have emptied ourselves. That emptying includes the emptying of our faith in our own understanding, and allowing ourselves to be taught by the Holy Spirit once again. Many who have made a career in the ministry, do not see this need as vital anymore, because they feel as though they have reached a pinnacle from which there is nowhere to go but down. Hence my calling to serve the Lord came with the phrase given by the Holy Spirit: "Can the teacher be taught". My Ministry, despite benefitting others, is to those who are in this spiritual rut, and most of them are the leaders in the churches. In doing so, their man made strongholds must be knocked down, thus making me appear confrontational. But know this, that the motive here is Love, and the Love of God for his sons, all of them, including those who are in leadership in the churches. Though you have served him for years, and are in a position of authority, He still wants you to cry out to him "Abba, Father" instead of boasting in all your accomplishments. Because all your accomplishments which are not done by the Holy Spirit will be burned up as Judgment begins at the House of God.
