"ABSOLUTELY WHY JESUS CHRIST FULFILLED THE FIRST HALF  OF DANIEL'S  'SEVENTIETH WEEK'"

ABSOLUTELY WHY JESUS CHRIST FULFILLED THE FIRST HALF  OF

                              DANIEL'S  SEVENTIETH  WEEK

From the King James Version, Daniel 9:24-27:   (with my additions for clarity)

24 Seventy weeks  [seventy sevens = 70 sabbatical cycles = 490 years,= 10 Jubilee cycles]  are determined   [def: to divide, to be settled, to be marked out]  upon thy people  [upon Daniel's people- Judah and Israel]  and upon thy holy city,  [Jerusalem]

  (1) to finish the transgression,   and  (2)  to make an end of sins,  and (3)  to make reconciliation for iniquity,  and  (4)  to bring in everlasting righteousness,  and  (5)  to seal up the vision  and  (6) prophecy,  and  (7)  to anoint the most Holy.

25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore   [all areas of Jerusalem's civil and religious society- beginning with the levitical system and the teaching of the Law, etc]  and to build Jerusalem  [to rebuild the city in toto, from the beginning of the sabbatical year 3304 in 457 b.c]   unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks:   [unto the beginning of Sabbatical year 3787, 26 a.d. is  483 years = 7 weeks' + 62 weeks' of years, from the beginning of  the Sabbatical year to the beginning of the Sabbatical year.]  the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

26 And after threescore and two weeks    [after the 7 weeks' already mentioned above plus this 62 weeks' = 483 years]   shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself:    [at the Cross, in the Spring of 30 A.D. 3790, in the MIDDLE of the 7 years of the 70th week', which week' began in the Fall on Tishri 1, 26 a.d. 3787, and was cut off  3.5 years later, in the Spring of 30 a.d., 3790, at the Cross.   That Sabbatical cycle ended on Elul 29, 34 a.d., 3794,   (which would have been the END of Daniel's final 490th IF the nation of Israel had turned to Yeshua as their Messiah. The following day, Tishri 1, 34 A.D., opened a new Civil year, 3795, and 9 days later, Tishri 10, would have opened the Jubilee Year, the 50th year, which is really year 1 of the next 49 years, IF Israel had repented.).

and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;  [foretelling the invasion of Jerusalem by Roman General Titus in 69/70 a.d.]  and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.  [telescoping clear down until the end of the Tribulation]

27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week:  [near the beginning of the Tribulation, when the antichrist brings his covenant into Israel.]

and in the midst of the week   [when the antichrist becomes the Beast in the middle of the 7 years of the Tribulation, which is the beginning of the last  3 ½ years of Daniel's 70th week']   he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,  [what the Beast will do on the 1290th day of the Tribulation, Dan 12:11; Matt 24:15-20] and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, [through to the end of the last half of Daniel's 70th week' which closes at the end of the Tribulation] and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

The majority of evangelical Christianity including scholars, pastors, prophecy teachers, book writers and others hold to the interpretation of this text that Messiah Yeshua was cut off from the whole seventieth week of Daniel's prophecy at the ending of the 69th week / the end of the 483rd year, on Elul 29, 26 A.D. in order to hold over the whole seventieth week' until the last 7 years of the Tribulation, making the 7 years of the Tribulation the seventieth week of Daniel.  This is a very serious misunderstanding of the wonderful intent of this precious prophecy to Judah and Israel, as it removes Yeshua, the Messiah, even cutting Him off, at the beginning of His ministry to Judah and Israel which removes Him totally from the scene depicted in 9:24-27!  God NEVER stopped the ongoing count of the '70 weeks of years, until 3 ½ years later at the Cross, as the new 7th year opened on Tishri 1, of 26 A.D. which was the beginning of the 70th week, and Jesus, the Messiah showed up in Israel the following Spring of 27, INSIDE the 7th year.

The severe error in interpretation of this prophecy started, at least in modern times with the teaching of Sir Robert Anderson in the late 1800s.  He also wrongly taught that the decree began with Nehemiah, in 445/444 B.C. which forced him to have to divide the Jewish years into fractions in order to make the 69 weeks fit properly into the time of Jesus' coming to Israel.  Daniel's '69/70 weeks' are to be calculated on lunisolar years, as Israel's calendar sabbatical years always have been from the beginning, beginning on Tishri 1, in the fall, as Leviticus 25 commands, and ending on the following Elul 29.  Sabbatical years have NEVER been calculated using fractions! Mr. Anderson totally ignored the clear teaching of Ezra 7 and missed the fact that Nehemiah NEVER received a decree of any kind, as Ezra did from king Artaxeres in Ezra 7:13,21.  Nehemiah only received letters from Artaxeres, Nehemiah 1:7,8,9, to guarantee safe passage through the territories back into Jerusalem.  Mr. Anderson also seemed unaware that Daniel 9:25 called for the services of a scribe and a priest of Israel, who had been anointed and qualified for such a task as to reteach the Torah and its ritual statutes to Judah, (Ezra 7:6,10)  besides the rebuilding of the whole society there.  Ezra was a descendent of the famous high priest, Hilkiah, and the name Ezra' in Hebrew means help.'  Nehemiah was neither a priest nor a scribe.  His task was ONLY to rebuild the WALL of Jerusalem. He was a political figure and later became the governor of Judah. Note this about what Ezra 7:6 and 9 clearly state about Ezra that the hand of the Lord his God was upon him.

This severe misunderstanding of Anderson's which somehow has been passed down and believed as truth - to almost everyone of today, has greatly caused the beclouding (obfuscation) of minds and hiding of the Holy Spirit's intended meaning of this marvelous text, which has made it so much harder to correctly interpret. The correct interpretation of this prophecy helps the Bible student of today in proper  understanding of the importance of God's sabbatical years and cycles, how He has accomplished much of His work down through the ages beginning on, inside of, in the middle of, and ending with the 7th years and cycles of the nation of Israel! If we understood this more, we NOW, at the end of the Adamic Age would understand the necessity of sabbatical cycle that will complete both the 7 years of Tribulation, and the last half of Daniel's 70th' week.  [There is a possibility that the Lord allowed this clouding of understanding all this time until right nowin order to fulfill what He Himself told Daniel in Daniel 12:9:  And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. ]

Israel's next Sabbatical cycle/Sabbatical year opens on Tishri 1, 5775, Wed/Thurs, September 24/25, 2014.  If the Tribulation begins on the Feast of Firstfruits, Nisan 16, Sat/Sun, April 4/5, 2015, inside the Sabbatical year, the exact middle of the Sabbatical cycle will begin on Tishri 6, 5779, September 14/15, 2018, Sabbath, and the end of the next 7 year cycle will fall on Elul 29, 5782, Sat/Sun, September 24/25. 2022. IF 2022, Jewish year 5782, is the final 490th year of Daniel's seventy sevens,' then the Jubilee year will open on Tishri 10, 5783, Tues/Wed, October 4/5th, 2022 which will open and inaugurate God's holy Kingdom on Earth with a return to the eternal ritual and ordinances of the law of the house of the holy, eternal Temple of Ezekiel  (Ezekiel 43:11-12).

Sir Robert Anderson's interpretation is absolutely wrong according to the Scripture.

How can I say this? What right do I have to make that statement?

Besides the Scripture texts written above, the answer to that question is totally contained within verse 24 above.

If any of you hold to Sir Robert Anderson's teaching, I would like you to take a little time and honestly consider the following:   Come, let us reason together.

The little 3 verse prophecy of Daniel 9 is one of the most vital prophecies in all of Scripture. Not only does it address Daniel's thy people who on the short view, are Daniel's own Tribe- Judah, but also thy holy city of Jerusalem, which was the capital city of ancient Judah. But since the last half  of this prophecy is fully fulfilled with the last half of the Tribulation, thy people must refer to all Israel and thy holy city of course, must refer to present day Jerusalem.

For the believing Jew, this prophecy exactly foretells the year of the first coming to Israel, of Messiah, the Prince, who is called the Wonderful Counselor,  the Mighty God,  the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace in Isaiah 9:6-7.

The Jews were able to count their sabbatical years even before the first century A.D. A devout and just man, Simeon,  was waiting in Jerusalem for the consolation of Israel, Luke 2:25, 30 years before - at the birth of the Messiah, and was promised by the Lord that he would not see death before he saw the Lord's Christ, in Luke 2:26. This is important to remember, because under the Mosaic Law, Numbers 4 sets the age of a priest to begin his levitical duties at 30 - until age 50 - to do the work of the Tabernacle (and the Temple).

Luke 3:15 also mentions Jews who were in expectation because,  they were obviously counting the sabbatical cycles, (Luke 2:36-38) and  were watching for the signs   just the same as the devout and the just watchers are doing in this present day - counting and watching!  It was obvious that many folks of that day could still remember hearing about the announcement made by the angel of the Lord to the shepherds, outside of Bethlehem - 30 years beforewhen he said Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.  Luke 2:10-11. Also, remember it had been only 19 years before, that the 12 ½ year old child, Yeshua, had stayed behind in Jerusalem after the end of the feast of Passover, in order to discuss the things of the Law and be about His Father's business and then was found by His parents after three days, Luke 2.

No wonder Judah could be and was by some, to be in expectation!  Actually, the nation of Israel was without excuse, and should have rejoiced with great joy and thankfulness to Almighty God for His faithfulness, which should have led to their trust and acceptance of their own, dear Messiah! But alasthat was not to be!

In our present day, we have  Jesus' own promise the watchers in the church of Sardis, (just before the church of Philadelphia).IF they watched, they could know the very hour He will come for them!  Rev 3:3 says: Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know (ginosko' Strong's #1097) what hour I will come upon thee.

[The apostle Paul told the true Church the exact hour when Jesus will come for her- in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye- (1 Corinthians 15:52), which, in Judaism is the definite window of time of evening twilight' following Sundown, during that little indeterminate window when one day changes into the new Jewish day. By Revelation 3, the Bible has already clearly told the Bible student about the year - INSIDE the Sabbatical year, the season - Spring, the month - Nisan, the agricultural product and harvest - Barley,  the Feast day Firstfruits and the hour at the twinkling of an eye -  when He would BEGIN, and once again resurrect His own Body, in order to BEGIN the  Tribulation at the opening of the Day of the Lord.]

Daniel's prophecy opens with a list of seven requirements that must be fulfilled INSIDE the 490 years which are to be divided' and 'settled(the meanings of determined')  into seventy sabbatical cycles' of 7 years each,  in order to make the city of Jerusalem and her people suitable, according to the Lord's standards, for receiving the Consolation of Israel, first spiritually and then physically, at the end of the Age.

This prophecy BEGAN in the Spring, on Nisan 1, INSIDE  Israel's sabbatical year, (Ezra 7:6-13), according to the Bible and the Rosetta Calendar. http://www.rosettacalendar.com/

This prophecy must END in the Spring, on Nisan 1, INSIDE Israel's sabbatical year, again according to the Bible and the Jewish calendar.

The Hebrew word determined also means to be decreed  and be marked out, in seventy separate divisions of 7 years, for a total of 490 years.

For you who have been taught and believe that these 7 requirements above can be fully satisfied by the 7 years of the Tribulation, which Sir Robert Anderson taught, I want to ask you to think honestly and reasonably about your answers to these 7 questions below, regarding verse 24 above:

1)     How could the Tribulation ever finish the transgression?

The Hebrew word there for finish means to shut up, to restrain.  The word transgression means rebellion against God, among other things. The Tribulation can never finish or restrain the horrible sin of rebellion against a Holy God - physically or spiritually!  The Tribulation is one of the most evil periods of time in all of human history.

2)     How could the Tribulation ever make an end of sin?

The Hebrew word for end means to make a complete end, to finish sin. Sin will abound during the Tribulation in a fashion never seen before, nor ever will be seen again.  Sin continues in operation throughout the 1,000 year Kingdom age- as the curse of destruction imposed in the Garden of Eden at the beginning of Creation is not lifted off Creation until the end of the book of Revelation, at the end of the Millennium (Revelation 22:3). Even though the Lord never has to deal with the sins of redeemed Israel ever again after their conversion at the end of the Tribulation, all the ongoing generations of the Gentiles after the first, saved generation that enters the Kingdom, must recognize their sin nature, humble themselves, repent and come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in order to be born again, throughout the Millennium. If you have any doubt about this, read chapters of 21 and 22 of Revelation which describe the end of the 1,000 years and notice the Holy Spirit's oft mention of the wicked that are still present at the end of that time.

3)     On what level could the seven years of the Tribulation make reconciliation for iniquity?

The Hebrew word for reconciliation means: to cover, purge, make an atonement, make reconciliation, cover over with pitch (as was the inside of Noah's Ark). To ever credit the Tribulation with making an atonement for the severest of sin - iniquity totally strains the limits of credulity!  Believing such is totally incredulous!

4)     How would it ever be possible for the utter, diabolical sin and violence of the Tribulation to bring in everlasting righteousness?

The Hebrew word righteousness means rightness, justice. As mentioned above, the state of sin remains in operation even thru a little season after Satan is released from his 1,000 years in the bottomless pit.'  (Revelation 20:7-10). Rightness and justice to not arrive on Earth until after the Second Coming of Jesus Christ back to Earth in order to set up His Kingdom.

5)     How does the Tribulation seal up vision..

6)     and prophecy?

The Two Witnesses, whom I believe are Moses (representing the LAW), and Elijah (representing the PROPHETS) are only present in Israel during the first half of the Tribulation, not the last half.

7)     How does the Tribulation anoint the most Holy?'

The Tribulation does NOT nor could not anoint the most Holy in any way.  Jesus Himself anointed the most Holy' in Heaven with the application of His own shed blood on the altar and the mercy seat.  The most Holy' will NOT be anointed on Earth until the completion of the building of Ezekiel's eternal Temple, after the complete ending of the 7 years of the Tribulation, inside the beginning of the Kingdom.

After honest consideration and full realization of the truth in the 7 answers above, the Bible student is left with only ONE answer as to just HOW and by WHOM can the seven demands of Daniel 9:24 be fully satisfied and fully accomplished for Daniel's thy people and thy holy city.

You know the answer without anyone telling you - Messiah the Prince, the Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace is the ONLY Person in all the Universe who could have ever been qualified and had the power to fully and satisfactorily bring to a complete end first, spiritually, and then later, physically - the seven demands of verse 24, that He, Himself imposed upon thy people and thy holy city- by the shedding of His own blood upon the Cross.  He completely finished and accomplished those seven requirements with His own arm, with no one to help Me - because there was no one else who could ever accomplish, finish nor satisfy the seven requirements above, nor was there any other event in history that could possibly have finished these seven demands except for Yeshua's own substitutionary work of reconciliation to the Father at the Cross, that brought eternal redemption to the people of Jerusalem, the holy city of Jerusalem and the whole world, to those that believe in Him!

The prophecy in Daniel 9:24 to 27 is divided into two parts:

The first part is the wonderful foretelling to Israel about the Coming One, the nation of Israel's own dear Messiah Yeshua, after the end of '69 weeks,' inside the beginning of the next Sabbatical cycle, beginning in the Spring, who would be bringing with Him His own Messianic salvation of redemption from sin based upon the atoning offering of Himself on the Cross as the Lamb of God, in order to spiritually prepare all who would believe in Him, to be able to be physically prepared  to enter the kingdom of Heaven'- the Messianic Kingdom of David that Messiah Yeshua will bring back with Him to the Earth at the end of the Age.

After He shut up all seven requirements, He was cut off at the end of the first half of Daniel's seventieth week' in the MIDDLE of the seventieth week!' He had completed the work of redemption and reconciliation that His Father had given Him to do, John 17:4-11.

The last part of the prophesy foretells the coming of the people of the prince who will destroy the city and the sanctuary, which obviously is the prophecy of the Roman general, Titus, in 70 A.D., then it telescopes all the way down to the covenant that will be made for the 7 years at the beginning of the Tribulation by the Antichrist.  It then ends by  concentrating on the last half of Tribulation, that opens the last half of Daniel's seventieth week under the authority of the Beast for only the last 42 months of the Tribulation, beginning in the MIDDLE of the seventieth week, who will break that covenant and commit the horrible abomination that desolates on the 1290th day, when the Beast shall exalt and magnify himself above the holy God of Heaven (Daniel 11:36-38),  when that which has been determined, shall be poured out upon the desolate until the consummation - at the end of the last half of the seventieth week.'

The Judge of the whole Earth Messiah the Prince surely awaits with great anticipation the completion of the first 3 ½ years of the Tribulation, referred to in Scripture as the travail of the woman' (Isaiah 21:3-4; Jeremiah 4:30-31), during which the Lord will be successfully calling out His dear remnant - both Jew and Gentile - during the first 3 ½ years of the Tribulation, beginning with the 144,000 Jews.  Then, He has been eagerly waiting to complete the last 3 ½ years of Daniel's seventieth week,' in order to finally rid the Earth of all the wicked of the Adamic Age, in order at long last, to take His people over the Jordan for the final time, into their long-promised Beulah Land - their Messianic Kingdom of David - upon which He made an oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob so long ago!

The Seventieth Weeks' of Daniel are all about the determined, marked out period of time that it took to settle the debt, to pay the price forever in order to:  finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, to anoint the most holy, finished by the ONLY ONE who could ever complete and accomplish such a wondrous feat Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Messiah, the Savior-Redeemer and King of Israel!

The fulfillment of this prophecy about which the prophet Isaiah wrote covers two events Messiah Yeshua's first coming to Israel which made it possible for Him to return the second and last time  to Daniel's  thy people and thy holy city the redeemed nation of Israel... for evermore:

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.  Isaiah 60:1
