"RE: Berean: 09.26.13: thoughts about our posts"

Berean,

             You mentioned:

                          “- Be careful about punctuation

In this day & time, more & more people send in letters via cell phone.

I know that I make far more mistakes on the iPhone than I ever did on the Blackberry, yet I made a number of mistakes on the Blackberry.

The “auto-correction” software on the phones, laptops, pcs & pads/tablets, appears to actually generate errors, as well as to correct others.

Too often it makes an incorrect change, and we don’t notice it, since it looks like “corrected” text.

I guess that it also helps us to be more slothful than we used to be.

The other thing that you mentioned:

“- Think about how our posts appear to others

That is a fantastic admonition.

I’m sure we would all be shocked to learn how what we wrote, can so easily be misunderstood by others.

We see it in light of all that we have in our minds at that moment.

The others see it in light of all that they have in their minds at the moment.

We presume that our understanding is somehow coded into our text, so that all reading it will then have our understanding.

Also, we inadvertently hurt other Christians at times when they read what we wrote, even though hurting others was the farthest thing from our minds.

Perhaps we should pray & asked the LORD’s help, “before” we send the letter in, although I’m pretty sure many on FiveDoves do exactly that.
