"My dead bunny lying
in the street"
I did some praying and rebuking of Satan with a clergy person at
the Episcopal church the other day. When I got home,
a dead bloody bunny was lying in my street, right in front of my
mail box.
Run over, I suppose. Only its ear was not smashed so I
could see what it had been.
I love the wild bunnies who come to my back yard, and I hope
they will now not be afraid to come. This one who was
killed was probably the really tame one who had lost his fear of
my yard and me. My handyman said the bunny just sat and
watched when he mowed the lawn. But, losing his natural
fear, the bunny may have ran across the road without looking.
Or maybe someone ran him down. People here think of them
as pests who eat gardens, and shoot them.
I love them because they are not violent. They do not eat
other animals, as far as I know. They eat grass and
fruit. They like the apples which fall of my tree. I
have seen two male
bunnies pretending to fight over a female sitting to the side,
but they were just playing and not hurting each
other. The cat who visits, on the other hand, always
is in stalking mode,
and looking for moles underground which it could attack if ever
the mole came up when the cat was present.
I have thought of my bunnies as angelic messengers who have come
at certain times in response to prayer for direction. Some
may remember that I finally got up courage to go to
Mayo clinic when I prayed for a bunny visitor (after a dearth of
six months) to come and show me that the Lord wanted me to go.
This was a small gray bunny who died. It was the large
beige ones with beautiful pink lined ears who are the primary
messengers I have had. I have not been praying for such
signs,
avoiding that, but I still pray for the little animals to come
and be my guests, because they are beautiful and lively.
I may have another six months bunny-absence now. Unless...
