After an EMP attack, the US would be back to the 14th century, not the 18th!
 
In the 18th century, most families lived on farms and could feed themselves.
 
Now, all these families would starve, be subject to disease, etc.
 
So, in just a second back to the 14th century with all its associated plagues and famines. Most citizens would die.
