Robert,
This is an interesting possibility, and here's why...
Virgo is a relatively large constellation on the ecliptic, and this fall, Virgo is clothed with the sun (Rev 12) and the moon beneath her feet twice. First on Sept 17th, and second on October 16th.
(Technically, the moon is in Libra for October 16th, but still clearly beneath her feet.)
This is not a rare event, but could skew the Jewish calendar dates.
We should also note a moon-Mercury symbol of Islam on Oct 16th, as well as the sun conjuncting with Spica, the branch of David. The moon & Mars make the Islamic symbol on Oct 18th in Scorpio. (Ominous considering the October surprise meme.)
This 'black-moon' Virgo certainly adds to the "you will not know the day or hour" mystery... ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_moon )
