Hope is essential—it is a light in dark time.

"A Father to the fatherless, and a defender of the widows is God in His holy habitation."

Psalm 68:5

"So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares for you."

1 Peter 5:6-7

"God opposes the proud, but favors the humble." Proverbs 3:34

"So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you." James 4:7-8ab

You are saved if you get around to growing the attitude that says,

"I’ve done my best, Lord. Please forgive the rest." 1 John 1:9

That is to say,

"...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.  This is also valid for each member for your household, as they believe likewise."  Acts 16:31

"And without faith, it is impossible to please God.  For anyone that comes to Him must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him."  Hebrews 11:6
