Fay,You have, again, brought up some further interesting questions.First is with the word took."Took" is definitely sometimes used similar to how you mentioned:
Genesis 34:2 And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.
Judges 21:23 And the children of Benjamin did so, and took them wives, according to their number, of them that danced, whom they caught: and they went and returned unto their inheritance, and repaired the cities, and dwelt in them.
Yet there are sometimes where it appears to be used the other way:
Genesis 24:67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.
Ruth 4:13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.
The other thing you brought up is whether the giants were born gigantic, where the mothers died in childbirth. That is a frightening thought. If that was the case, I would have to agree with you, no other women would want that. However, if they were born normal size, then it could be possible that they had more children. Then there is another question, could a normal sized woman have children with a giant?
II Samuel 21:16 And Ishbibenob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.
I Chronicles 20:4 And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines; at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Sippai, that was of the children of the giant: and they were subdued.
6 And yet again there was war at Gath, where was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were four and twenty, six on each hand, and six on each foot: and he also was the son of the giant.
Or, like I had asked Donna about, could their mother have been a giant, too?
Would the thought of giving birth to men of renown possibly been appealing to some of the young women in those days? Was renown a good thing, or was it more like a bad thing, like infamous?
