I had a couple questions about Psalm 27: Psalms 27:4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. What did David mean about him "dwelling" in the house of the LORD all the days of his life? Was David referring to dwelling inside the tabernacle? Because he actually had the ark in a tent in the city of David where he lived, would he leave dwelling where the ark was to go dwell in the tabernacle where the ark wasn't? Or was he speaking about the heavenly house of God, after he would be resurrected? Or was he simply referring to continuing to dwell where he had brought the ark? Also, while dwelling in the house of God, he said he would behold the beauty of the LORD, so was he referring to beholding that beauty in the word of God? So, was David able to see the beauty of the LORD within the scriptures, themselves? Did David see the LORD differently than everyone else does? So the beauty that he saw, is that similar to, or related to, worshipping the LORD in the beauty of holiness? i.e. the LORD's holiness, not David's? Do many people see the LORD as a God afar off, aloof and difficult to approach, strict and sterile? Did not David see the LORD similar to how the shepherd lover is presented in the Song of Solomon, as "altogether lovely"? Did not David see the LORD's holiness as beautiful, that he is full of compassion, tender mercies, loving kindness, gracious, and someone David spent much time with, someone he was always singing to, and writing songs about? Didn't David definitely see the LORD differently than everyone else sees the LORD? And isn't that probably only a minuscule picture of how Jesus sees the Father? But cannot the Holy Ghost can help us see, and love Jesus that way? Romans 5:5b because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. However, doesn't the singing go both ways? David said, 5 Psalms later: Psalms 32:7b thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. The LORD compassed David with songs! When David read the scriptures, was he somehow hearing the LORD singing? Most times, when I read, I think of the LORD speaking those words, but did David think of the LORD singing the words that David was reading? David wrote Psalms by inspiration of the Holy Ghost, so in addition to many prophetic things about Jesus, and like those scriptures, where David was writing about his own experiences, yet some were prophetic, like Psalm 22, so is it possible, that while writing of his own experiences, that by inspiration, David was actually sometimes writing down the very thoughts of Jesus towards the Father? And the very words that Jesus says about the Father, and even to the Father?
