Donna,The thing that I realized, was that Abram wasn't the first born of Terah, even though Abram's name is mentioned first.
Genesis 11:26 And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
At first glance, it looks like Terah 1st had Abram, then Nahor, and finally Haran. But the order listed in line 26, doesn't necessarily show the order of birth, as seen with Noah's sons:
Genesis 5:32 And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
At first glance, it looks like Noah 1st had Shem, then Ham, and finally Japheth. However, the eldest was Japheth, and the youngest was Ham:
Genesis 9:24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.Genesis 10:21 Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born.
Terah began having children when he was 70, and he lived a total of 205 years.Terah died at 205, but it also said that Abram was 75 at that time.Which would have meant that Terah was 130 when Abram was born:
Genesis 11:32 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.
Genesis 12:4 So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
Acts 7:4 Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.
It was 1656 years up to the flood, then 1 year for the flood. But after the flood:2 years and Shem had Arphaxad, and then 220 more years until Terah was born, then 130 years until Abraham was born (see above).Which means that Abram was born 352 years after the flood. However, it says:
Genesis 9:28 And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.
So, I was wrong, Noah didn't die 13 years before Abram (Abraham) was born, but he died only 2 years before Abraham was born.
Genesis 11:10 These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:
Genesis 11:12 And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah:
Genesis 11:14 And Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:
Genesis 11:16 And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg:
Genesis 11:18 And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:
Genesis 11:20 And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug:
Genesis 11:22 And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:
Genesis 11:24 And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah:
2+35+30+34+30+32+30+29=222 yearsThen Terah was 130 when he had Abram (see note above), so 222+130=352 years after the food, was when Abram was born.
I realize that the traditional teaching is that Abram was 58 when Noah died. Also, there are some that speculate that Abram and Noah spent time together in Babel. And another (Jasher?) speculation, was that Nimrod wanted to kill Abram, so Abram went and hid with Noah & Shem.
However, I decided to try and use only the scriptures, and put the information into Excel, to see how it added up.If I've made any other mistakes with this, in addition to the 2 vs 13, please let me know.
