"So, regarding the doctrine of hell, what happened there, on that cross?"

Psalms 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

(So, what happened there, on that cross?)

Hebrews 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

(Why did the Son of God require to take on a body of a man? To bare our sins with, to have his blood shed from, and to die in.)

I Peter 2:24a Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree,

II Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

(Think about this: the Father looking at the cross, and there it is: every lie, theft, cursing, idolatry, dishonor, adultery,
rape, torture, and murder of all the people, of all time, and all the guilt of it,
and now it's all together on that one, right there on that middle cross!
There it is, the world’s sin, everything that the Father hates, all these sins that broke his heart!
Can you imagine how the Father is feeling towards that? That’s what he saw!
That’s what he saw! He saw everything he hates! Everything that broke his heart!
In all his holy hatred towards sin, he pours out the fury of his righteous, omnipotent wrath, on that one, there, on that middle cross!
He’s a holy God, totally and perfectly, but he’s also omnipotent.
So, way beyond anything physical that Jesus suffered, was the omnipotent wrath of the Father!
Poured out like a laser beam, straight down onto that one on that middle cross!
All his hatred against sin and abomination, that’s when Jesus cried out!
The Son, the Word made flesh, now made sin, with the Father pouring out the full fury of his wrath on him,
and the Son cries out to him, “My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?”.
Right there, on the cross, in our place, Jesus suffered the torment of our damnation, so that we would not have to go to hell.)

Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

(Blood had to be shed for the righteous justice of the LORD to be satisfied.)

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

(So, what kind of blood was shed on the cross, and what kind of life was in that blood?)

Acts 20:28b  to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

I John 1:2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)

(That is why that blood, that precious, pure blood, can wash away our sins.)

I Peter 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

I John 1:7b  and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Revelation 1:5b Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

(Yes, there really is a hell, and only by the blood of Jesus can we escape eternal damnation.
Eternal damnation of torment most assuredly awaits us, if we die unwashed, still in our sins.
But, eternal joy and blessedness of living forever with Jesus, he we call on him to wash away our sins with his blood.
However, if someone doesn’t believe there is a hell, why would they even think that they need to be saved?
If someone can’t believe that they deserve to go to hell, why would they even think that they need a Saviour?
If someone thinks that a loving God would never let them go to hell, why would he pour out that wrath on his Son on the cross?
If someone thinks that a loving God would never let them go to hell, why would they ever think to repent and believe on Jesus?
Also, if someone claiming to be a Christian doesn’t really believe there is a hell, why would they ever give the gospel?
If we maybe don’t think that our friends, loved ones, coworkers, and neighbors are but one heartbeat from hell,
then we could let days, weeks, months, and even years go by, without seriously witnessing the gospel to them.
If we are not impassioned to be giving out the gospel, it is most likely for one of four reasons:
1.      Cares of this life, deceitfulness of riches, and lust of other things have choked the word & it has become unfruitful
2.      We really don’t believe what the word of God says about hell
3.      Perhaps we do not even care if those people that we know end up in hell
4.     Maybe we’re religious, go to church, pray, and read the Bible, but never actually got saved, ourselves)
(Only we know which one of those four reasons is our reason.
If any of those are true for us, then we very much need to repent, right now.)
