Angela,We have folks that do need to use a remote connection to take part of the service, and as you mentioned, for valid shut-in reasons. We even have some folks in another state, who apparently do not have a church near them, that preaches and teaches the blood, the book, and the blessed hope, like they hear in our services. So, they faithfully, since Covid hit, have been joining all our services. They join us on channel Zoom for Sunday school, then on channel Facebook for the preaching services. In the first month of Covid lockdowns around the country, our pastor even arranged for the very elderly,to join in remotely for the Lord's supper, also providing what they needed for that.We even had prayer meetings, with those physically unable to attend, joining in via Zoom. All these worked well, and were a blessing, not only to the shut-ins, but to those who were missing them. The only downside, is the "appeal" of church from the couch, for any of us who can physically meet, but are tempted to not shower, change, and drive to church.Instead, tempted to listen remotely, and worse yet, not even live, but at a "more convenient" time.Much of the lives of people these days is involved with social media and the internet, and many worked from home during the pandemic, if their job could be done remotely. Therefore, remote church, just seems like a natural extension of the remote connection lifestyle.Under those circumstances, we risk being like embers on the periphery, which cool much quicker, and sadly can even go out.
