Is Economic Chaos Ahead?
Isaiah 30:13 (Classic Amplified) Therefore this iniquity and guilt will be to you like a broken section of a HIGH WALL, bulging out and ready [at some distant day] to FALL, whose CRASH will [then] come suddenly and swiftly, in an instant.
While we wait expectantly for His Coming/the Rapture, we need to address some questions. One of these being: Is Economic Chaos Ahead? A sharp birth pang? Despite the widespread economic effects of Covid19, including very high government debt levels, property values (especially housing) and share prices have risen strongly!! Can this keep going or will these bubbles burst? The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) close at 35 677 on Friday - close to or at a record high. By way of comparison, the DJIA was around 10 000 in 2001.
Low interest rates have been the primary catalyst for the very strong growth in asset values. However, there are now dark clouds on the economic horizon: rising inflation and negative real interest rates in some countries, major supply chain problems, very large government deficits and financial challenges for enterprises, including in China.
Is a CRASH coming? Can we learn from History?
Isaiah 30, verse 13 is interesting: refers to a HIGH WALL, ready to FALL, and a CRASH that could come suddenly. The most watched financial index relates to WALL Street. The greatest ever crash was in 1929, as summarised below (from Wikipedia).
The Wall Street Crash of 1929, also known as the Great Crash, was a major American stock market crash that occurred in the autumn of 1929. The Great Crash is mostly associated with October 24, 1929, called Black Thursday, the day of the largest sell-off of shares in U.S. history, and October 29, 1929, called Black Tuesday, when investors traded some 16 million shares on the New York Stock Exchange in a single day.
· After a one-day recovery on October 30, the market continued to fall, arriving at an interim bottom on 13 November 13, 1929.
While we clearly do not know what may occur, the timeline of 24 October 2021 through to 13 November 2021 is a time of HIGH WATCHING!! This time incorporates the United Nations Climate Change Conference (Sunday 31 October to Friday 12 November 2021). Context of Isaiah 30:13 Prophesy (Predict) Smooth Things!!
Can the housing and share price bubbles continue? Will debt levels shake the economies of the world? The crypto currency Bitcoin symbolises what is wrong in financial markets: people (albeit not me) can use algorithms to create wealth on the fragile Bitcoin market, based largely on sentiment rather than any intrinsic value!! It is worth reflecting on the context of Isaiah 30:13:
10 Who say to the seers, See not! and to the prophets, Prophesy not to us what is right! Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceitful illusions. 11 Get out of the true way, turn aside out of the path, cease holding up before us the Holy One of Israel.
12 Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel: Because you despise and spurn this [My] word and trust in cunning and oppression, in crookedness and perverseness, and rely on them.
13 Therefore this iniquity and guilt will be to you like a broken section of a high wall, bulging out and ready [at some distant day] to fall, whose crash will [then] come suddenly and swiftly, in an instant.
14 And he shall break it as a potter’s vessel is broken, breaking it in pieces without sparing so that there cannot be found among its pieces one large enough to carry coals of fire from the hearth or to dip water out of the cistern.
