John and Doves ,
Here in our American pulpits, we get a gentle nod to confess our sins, so God can forgive us unto Salvation, and that's usually about the end of the matter.
We go on to the next verse in the Bible without any self examination, and by the time we dismiss ourselves from the church service ,we're already wondering where we will go for lunch.
Well, we're in for some eye-openers here in Pastor Derek Prince's conversation with all of us. ( "sermon" doesn't quite fit the repoire.)
I can guarantee you that you will hear words not normally spoken in church. They are realistically forthright. And necessary for true confessions.
"It is appointed unto menonce to die, but after this the judgment."Hebrews 9:27.
When we die, we go to the Judgment Seat of Christ, where our soul bares all before the Lord.
"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ;that everyone may receive the things done in his body ,according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad."2 Corinthians 5:10
If we have already brought up our faults to the Lord during our life time --having kept short accounts with him daily --- then our closet-sins have already been dealt with, and the Lord doesn't even bring them up anymore. They are as removed from us as the east is from the west. They have been cast into the sea of forgetfulness.
But if we vowed to take our sins with us to the grave, then our session with God will be longer.
"He that covereth his sinsshall not prosper. But whosoever confesses*and forsakes them* shall have mercy."Proverbs 28:13
In the end, we are thoroughly washed and cleansed, and can look our Lord in the eye with no shame or guilt, having been forgiven forever.
"If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins."1 John 1:9
"For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their inequities will I remember no more."Hebrews 8:12
And the "Our Father" reminds us that as we forgive others their faults toward us, so our Lord will also forgive us our faults.
Pastor Derek Prince was a gift God gave to the church years ago.He belonged to a generation that spoke unabashedly about things that matter in our life.He didn't tiptoe, lady-like, around the elephant in the living room, as some churches and members do so today, in this Laodicean Age.
He truly cared for souls, and was lovingly blunt. His words are for all generations.
Thank you God for lending him to us.
