John and Doves,One of my favorite holy days falls within Sukkot (Booths, Ingathering)and it is called"Hoshana Rabbah" meaning "Great Salvation."
Our Lord preached a short sermon that day, yet extremely powerful.
John 7: 37, 38...."In the last day, the Great Day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying,
"If anyone thirsts(Ps.42)let him come unto Me, and drink."
"He that believeth on Me, as the Scripture hath said, out of his innermost being shall flow rivers of Living Water."
"But this spake He of the Holy Spirit which they that believe on Him should receive. For the Holy Ghost was not yet given;because that Jesus was not yet glorified."
Did the Old Testament saints have the HolySpirit ? Yes.The Spirit was WITH them, but not IN them, for Jesus had not died yet.
Saul and many Old Testament persons prophesied, and many did miracles. The Spirit was with them, but not indwelling them.
The Church Age is special, for we have the Spirit of Jesus not only with us, but also INSIDE us, because Jesus died and is now glorified, and His Spirit is given to all who believe and trust in Him.
Much of this remains a mystery to me. We actually become *one* with Jesus and the Father. It is explained more thoroughly
in John 17:21..."That they all may be *one*as Thou Father art in Me, and I in Thee. That they also may be *one* in us.That the world may believe that Thou hast sent Me."
Many believe that speaking in tongues is what these verses pertainto, yet I do not believe that is the main thrust here.
Tongues can not be pertained here because Paul the Apostle statesin 1Corinthians 13:8 that one day speaking in tongues will cease. And yet we know that the fullness of God's Presence never ceases for the Believer.
For me, the fullness of God's presence means that we are afforded the opportunity to have a very deep and real relationship with Jesus. Our Living Waters:Ezekiel 47: 1-5
We drink from the well of Jesus each time we read and feed upon His Word, the Holy Bible.Isaiah 55:1"Ho, everyone that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money. Come ye , buy and eat."
We follow Him more closely and share our innermost thoughts with Him."We have the mind of Christ"1 Corinthians 2:16
We are as obedient to Him and His Holy Spirit as we can be. We seek His gifts and His fruits daily. We practice Agape love as found in 1 Corinthians Chapter 13.
What a Great Salvation !!
What a jubilant way of life!!Isaiah 12:3"Therefore with *joy* shall ye draw water out of the wells of Salvation."
We will become *one* with Jesus and the Father.Hoshana Rabbah !!What a powerful sermon Jesus gave that last day, that Great Day of the feast of Sukkot.-----------------Jesus, I want to drink from your wells of Salvation. Please forgive my sins and fill me with your Spirit. May I live for you always. Amen.
