"WHAT SCRIPTURE WAS JESUS SPEAKING OF"

Matthew 24:15
"When ye therefore shall see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION , spoken of by the Prophet Daniel, stand in the holy place...'

Blessings, Garry B.
Actually, Daniel spoke regarding the "abomination of desolation," in multiple places, besides Daniel 12:11.
Dan 12:11     and from the time of the turning aside of the perpetual sacrifice, and to the giving out of the desolating abomination, are days a thousand, two hundred, and ninety.
It is also mentioned in Daniel 11:31, after a long series of multiple battles between latter day Kings.
Dan 11:31           And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

Please note, that the "abomination of desolation," is always associated with the "daily sacrifice," and usually the sanctuary.  Also note that the word "sacrifice," is always in italics in all translations.  Meaning, that the word has been added to try to give greater understanding, and is not in the original text.  The original texts are actually talking about the "daily, " or "continual."

There were actually two different "daily/continual," performed at the Temple or the Tabernacle complexes.  And they were performed, twice each day.  Outside, and in front of the Temple, was the altar for the animal sacrifices.  This is usually the first thing that people think of regarding the sacrifices performed at a temple.  But also, twice a day, there was the "daily/continual," sacrifice, inside the temple, at the Golden altar of incense.  The animal/blood sacrifice, was for the cleansing of sin.  The priests had to be free of sin, and also had to be cleansed by the water in the lever, before they could even enter the sanctuary.  The "golden altar of incense," inside the temple, was associated with the "sacrifice of prayer."
Psa 141:2           Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

You'll discover that Daniel in his vision of Daniel Chapter 8, speaks of the "thrown down," (desolation) of the continual or daily "sacrifice."  Most people look at Daniel Chapter 8, as referring only to the ancient history of Alexander the Great.  Alexander did fit the pattern, but Daniel chapter 8, is about the end times.
Dan 8:15     'And it cometh to pass in my seeing -- I, Daniel -- the vision, that I require understanding, and lo, standing over-against me is as the appearance of a mighty one.
Dan 8:16     And I hear a voice of man between the banks of Ulai, and he calleth and saith: Gabriel, cause this one to understand the appearance.
Dan 8:19     and saith: Lo, I -- I am causing thee to know that which is in the latter end of the indignation; for, at the appointed time is the end.

Daniel's vision of the "abomination of desolation," was:
Dan 8:9     And from the one of them come forth hath a little horn, and it exerteth itself greatly toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the beauteous land;
Dan 8:10     yea, it exerteth unto the host of the heavens, and causeth to fall to the earth of the host, and of the stars, and trampleth them down.
Dan 8:11     And unto the prince of the host it exerteth itself, and by it taken away hath been the continual sacrifice, and thrown down the base of his sanctuary.
Dan 8:12     And the host is given up, with the continual sacrifice, through transgression, and it throweth down truth to the earth, and it hath worked, and prospered.

Gabriel's interpretation:
Dan 8:26     And the appearance of the evening and of the morning, that is told, is true; and thou, hide thou the vision, for it is after many days.'
Dan 8:27     And I, Daniel, have been, yea, I became sick for days, and I rise, and do the king's work, and am astonished at the appearance, and there is none understanding.

Remember, at that time, the Temple was destroyed and no animal sacrifices were being performed.  Some type of Idol in the Jerusalem Temple at that time, would mean nothing to Daniel.  But recall that Daniel, not only performed his (and probably all of Judah's) daily/continual prayer, three times a day.  This meant so much to him, it resulted in him being thrown into the lions den.  Now that would make him "sick."

Where does the Father place His altars?
Exo 20:24           An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.
Did he not form you from the dust of the earth?
When you were cleansed by His blood, did he not give you His name?
Are you not the "Temple of God"?
If you have, "idols in your heart," would that not be an "abomination that would lead to desolation"?
A time is coming of such great deception, that even some believers will be deceived.
And when Yeshua was asked, What would be the sign of your coming, and the end time?
His answer: "See to it that you not be deceived."  He spoke of deception, four times in Matthew 24.  It must be important.

Shalom,
John
