MOSULMosul is a word we don’t hear a lot about except in newsclips now and then. We know it is about war, and war in far east. But the average Christian doesn’t concern themselves with it.Normally, I don’t concern myself to write on these things, but in the desperate times that are upon us, perhaps the Lord might use whatI say that I am feeling is upon us.Mosul is the modern name of an ancient city: Ninevah. the place Jonah was sent to preach but took the long road to do what he was supposed to do: preach repentance. That road took him into the belly of a whale before he was willing to obey. There are a couple of prophetic writings in the Bible about Ninevah. One concerns its destruction which took place around 600BC. Butthe other one has a last-day warning of it being “over-flowed” (Nahum 2:13-15 )For the past couple of years, Mosul has been occupied by Muslim Isis, it’s Christians persecuted and historic sites destroyed (includingthe tomb of Jonah). Some 2.5 million people are there with no where to go. And now the previous rulers have formed an army (with American support) to re-take it and drive out Isis.I can’t help but envision a disaster waiting to happen.1. Americans are there to “advise”, remember “no boots on the ground”? The coalition forces are all Muslims, but with factions—everyone has their own ideas and motives. (remember “United we stand, divided we fall”?)2. If Isis senses they are losing the fight and start to flee...what will they do next?3. Mosul’s water supply comes from the Mosul Dam, a huge hydroelectric plant built there mostly by Americans with America money.4. Mosul dam is said to be built on the most unstable of soil and rocks. Warning after warning has gone forth about this dam giving way, flooding all downstreatm and inundating Mosul under 60 feet of water. 1.5 million could drown, and included will be the refugees and all the coalition forces.5. The water comes from the Euphrates river. Doesn’t the Bible prophesies that the Eurphrates would one day be dried up so that forces could walk across it on dry ground—this to make way for the end-time forces to come against Israel in Armegeddon. What you may not know is that according to prophecy, the Euphrates might literally be the road to Armageddon. Revelation 16:12, 16 prophesies:“Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates and dried up its water to prepare the for the kings from the east…Now the spirits gathered the kings and their armies to the place that is called Armageddon in Hebrew.”
6. The lure? Oil, and Israel itself. Could this be what leads to our stock market collapse?
Isis’ luck with oil may not last. Coalition bombs, the Russian intervention and low oil prices could put pressure on revenues. The biggest threat to Isis’ production so far, however, has been the depletion of Syria’s ageing oilfields. It does not have the technology of major foreign companies to counteract what locals describe as a slow drop in production. Isis’ need for fuel for its military operations means there is also less oil to sell in the market.
For now, though, in Isis-controlled territory, the jihadis control the supply and there is no shortage of demand. “Everyone here needs diesel: for water, for farming, for hospitals, for offices. If diesel is cut off, there is no life here,” says a businessman who works near Aleppo. “Isis knows this [oil] is a winning card.”
7. Were it to happen very soon, could this possibly affect the election of our next president? The prophetic scriptures tell us thatthis end-time scenerio will find Israel alone...no nation will defend it, even America. Of the two candidates now seeking the presidency, only one Trump) has stated their loyalty and support for Israel. That person would have to lose for the other one to step into turning America’s back on that small nation.Who would ever have thought that OIL might be so important a player in what is to soon take place?I’m no prophetess---just thinking out loud.MARY E ADAMS
