We face
so many that are closed...some
permanetly. Struggle as we may, we
cannot get them to open to us.
Opportunities seem to always go to someone
else, and our dreams and hopes lay down with
us each night, serving a life sentence inside
a prison cell.
Then
some doors invite us to places we may later
wish we had never gone.
Our
minds can paint pictures and fantasies showing
us a one-sided view which hides the rough road
ahead. That attractive person that
caught our eye—that bait which looked like
answered prayer, led us into a nightmare. And
the door clicked shut behind us.
People,
perhaps you, are looking for SOMETHING that
can give release from our torments, yet
Satan’s bait is like a door which looks and
feels like the answer. We can take a
drug to give us a “high”, or some pill that
temporarily blocks out our senses, but we are
only being lured to our ultimate
destruction. This is why many commit
suicide...every door they tried only led to
dead ends or prison cells.
Yet a
certain verse in Matthew’s gospel speaks of
a door that can be exclusively ours.
A certain key to it has been given us, to both
open and shut it again and again. It speaks a
message that few ever hear and fewer still,
will ever put into practice.
Jesus
spoke of this particular door:
”Behold, I stand at
the door, and knock: if any man hear
my voice, and
open the door, I
will come in to him, and will sup with
him, and he with me”.
(Rev.
3:29)
When
you and I become a believer in Jesus, we are
called “His sheep”.
The
Apostle John wrote about this particular
door being like the sheepfold which a shepherd opens to let his
sheep graze outside, or closes to keep them
safe at night. Jesus
declared that HE was that both the shepherd
AND the door.
“Verily,
verily, I say unto you, I am the door
of the sheep. All that ever came before
me are thieves and robbers: but the
sheep did not hear them. I am
the door: by me if any man enter in,
he shall be saved, and shall go in and
out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but
for to steal, and to kill, and to
destroy: I am come that they might
have life, and that they might have it
more abundantly”. (John 10:7)
NOTE: Both the Shepherd
AND the door to the ANSWER to every problem,
trial, and frustration with life.
But don’t forget—Jesus mentions that you
and I are ALSO A DOOR which Jesus is asking
for YOU to open FOR HIM!
He is
the door to the sheepfold and His invitation
is to be allowed to come through OUR door, so
we can commune with Him personally.
We shut behind us all our problems and
situations and pray to our Heavenly Father in
Jesus’ name for all our needs.
Did you
know that sheep will never lie down until they
feel peace?
This the
only place we can find life...MORE ABUNDANT
LIFE! We can then be led outside again
into this troubled world and carry this peace
with us wherever we go, returning to the
shepherd and His sheepfold again and again to
once again lie down in peace and safety. No crack cocaine can do that!
Nor can any other door.
Only
His.
