A thought provoking link from RITAN. I agree with Heather R but totally understand the frustration of Julie N (see link below). We are all groping in the dark and yearning for our LORD Jesus. BUT - that's us. Bible believers. We have been blessed with the Holy Spirit - given eyes to understand. As well as being totally frrrrrrrrreaked out by current world events, a lot of us are guilt ridden at our inability to spread the alarm to a secular world. Feeling that we ought to be trying harder. Stumped as to how we can get the message through to people. Know what?............. that part of the ministry has been achieved. It's not like we have the job of missionaries in some remote swamp or jungle. Thank the LORD. Haha. The word has been spread. The majority of folk have access to the Bible - internet - television - newspapers. If they haven't got the picture yet or felt a stirring in their souls - no amount of begging to be heard and understood from a Bible believer will help.
I have decided to drop the guilt. Stop being like a puppy with a wagging tail - desperate to be believed and liked - not perceived as some over zealous, religious nutcase. Someone brought up the subject of Syria today. I pointed out (with casual confidence) the prophecy of Isaiah 17 . That Damascus is going to be snotted in the near future. That piques their interest. Now that it's in the news. I then (again with casual confidence) say that the newspaper headlines are matching Bible prophecy - word for word. After that - it's up to them. If they want to know more - they will ask or use the tools that God has provided - namely, Bible, internet, television, newspapers etc.. If they are curious to know more from me, I will oblige.
I love the beautiful parable of the Sewer. Matthew 13. Link below. We can plant a seed but it's up to our LORD to make it grow. If that seed falls on rocky ground - it ain't my fault. Our LORD is in charge of the growth. We assume too much if we believe we can open up a person's spiritual eyes. That is entirely up to God.
1 Coronthians 3:7 " So, neither the one who plants the seed nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who makes things grow"
We Christians can be be the "farmers" and plant the seed. We can do as much as possible to ensure that seed has been scattered. But then we need to sleep. As we sleep - God is the one who causes the seed to grow...............or not.
