"KJV, and the Plurality of translations."
To all doves,
The KJV, was written in a time of Monarchies and more centralized
hierarchical churches. In this sort of culture, a single "authoritative
version" will suffice.
The Plurality of modern culture dictates that a plurality of bible versions is needed, as no single authority is to be trusted.
To me, this whole debate is nothing more than a cultural debate, with
most "conservatives" favoring the KJV, and most "Liberals" favoring a
plurality of versions of the text. Both sides are not really where I see
the church going in the near future. We are not going to go back to one
church dictating the interpretation, Neither should we accept the "If
it feels good, then use that version attitude" of the Liberal side.
Instead, the church should strive to unify in the Holy Spirit, and the
Spirit of Truth. Jesus is the Head, Not one church dictator, or Pope.
"We are in the world, but not of the world" The world gives us a choice
of accepting their authority, or accepting no authority, No different
than the whole legalism vs. lawlessness concept. The Holy Spirit is our
comforter and our guide, leading us away from the things of this world
to pursue heavenly treasures.
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the
world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the
world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of
life—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is
passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God
abides forever. (1 John 2:15-17)
God Bless.
