Our politics have been "managed" for a very long time. Powers that we cant touch will have their agenda (temporarily!!) succeed regardless of what we do or fail to do. Was this planned in advance? I am sure it was. Was there anything else we as citizens could have done besides come out in force to open the closed monuments? Doubt it. Nevertheless....it still had to be done. Even if we 'fell into their trap'. Even if it was exactly what someone else wanted us to do. You know....between a rock and a hard place? I had an English teacher in high school....Mr. Cates. Liberal, 'deep thinker'...aren't they all? He had every class, every year, read this tiny play-let called "the dark tower" (not steven king's epic!). In it, this one character spoke of life being like a down-escalator. Man's life is an escalator going down, and all his life, man spends struggling to get to the top of it. He will NEVER reach the top, and when he dies, he will collapse on it and go down regardless. Nevertheless, as long as he lives, he will struggle and climb. Depressing, right? But true! Even if we KNOW that satan is the god of this world, and even if (for this brief period of time till the redemption) we cant change anything about it in the long run, nevertheless--we FIGHT. We will be judged as a nation, yes....as well as for being part of humanity. But we will also have our individual actions scrutinized. God's concern isn't whether or not we win, or even make a dent in the outcome at all! What He DOES look at is whether or not we did what He sent us to do, the best that we could. We don't have to concern ourselves with the outcome....it is out of our hands. We just have to be sure we jumped into the fight; whatever fight God sent us to jump into! The outcomes belong to God alone. Our actions (or lack thereof) are entirely our choice! After all....there was no WAY a bunch of farmers with pitchforks could win against the British army, either....was there?
