"Bible Version Controversy -- Clarified"

To All Doves,

I don’t usually post, but the Bible version controversy happens to be a hot-button issue that my husband and I have studied out in the past year.

This isn’t an issue about readability, word choice (such as one version using “made” and another using “created”), or simply taking out archaic language.  This is about words and verses being left out or changed in the new versions, such that the meanings of verses are changed.  Further, the new versions (NASB, ESV, NIV, RSV, etc.) are translated from a NEW SOURCE; a NEW Greek text developed using “newly” discovered manuscripts (Codexes Vaticanus and Sinaiticus) and a process called “textual criticism” by so-called scholarly men in the 1800s.  The King James Bible and New King James versions are translated from the Textus Receptus, which is based on texts available to the church throughout church history.  (Note:  although the NKJV states it is based on the TR, it has changes in it that were influenced by the new Greek texts.)

The following resources clearly state the issues for anyone wishing to know more.
