Hello, Gino
I am replying to your letter here: http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/oct2013/gino106-2.htm
Gino, I know that the world today is as messed up as it is because almost no one regards the subject of “sin” anymore.
What are the sins of iniquity? No one knows anymore, nor cares.
God knows what they are, Moses knows what they are, Jesus knows what they are.
You said the following:
Also, I don’t think that Jesus is frightening her into keeping the commandment from now on, as too many preachers do.
Also, I don’t think Jesus is brow beating her, or guilt tripping her, into keeping the commandment from now on, as too many preachers do.
Gino, I don’t care what preachers say. I only care what Jesus says.
Jesus isn’t *frightening* anyone into keeping the commandments. He is only stating God’s will for all of us. Jesus doesn’t brow beat or guilt trip anyone…He just tells us the truth. He was crucified for telling everyone the truth…
You said:
The moment she heard the word of God (Jesus is God), she was supernaturally empowered by faith, in order to keep the commandment.
I’m sorry, but I don’t believe that. Why would Jesus tell her to go and SIN NO MORE…if He already knew she was supernaturally empowered, as you say, to keep the commandment. If that were so, it would be superfluous to tell her that.
At what point are we ever accountable for our actions??
Everyone needs to fight their demons, Gino. Everyone. This whole world is a battle for souls.
I have spoken to many Christians this last 7-8 years about the subject of sin. Do you want to know what they told me? I am making no reference to anyone here on Five Doves, this is from other places with whom I have spoken to Christians about the subject of sin.
I have encountered 3 major thoughts that Christians have about sin:
1. “I am indwelt, endowed and imbued by the Holy Spirit. I don’t even know how to sin!”
[is boasting a sin? just asking…]
2. “Sure, I sin. So what? Jesus paid for all my past, present and future sins. I may as well enjoy myself, then I’ll go to Heaven.”
3. “It is impossible to keep from sinning. No one can do it, so I won’t even try.”
Those are the three things I have heard over the years from Christians about sin.
Let’s take #3: So, it’s impossible to keep from sinning? Then why did Jesus say to go and sin no more, if it was impossible. He doesn’t give us *impossible* tasks.
As far as #2: If this isn’t the definition of a lukewarm Christian, then I don’t know what is.
And finally, #1: Jesus and His disciples were indwelt by the Holy
Spirit. How did they prove that to everyone? They did MIRACLES. The Holy Spirit was in them and gave them angelic, heavenly *powers*. I would never make a boast like this if I couldn’t do even ONE miracle….
Probably the worst out of all of these is boasting. God had enough of boasting, arrogance and pride from lucifer…He doesn’t need or want any more of it from ‘us’.
James 4:16 - But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
Jeremiah 9:23 - Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise [man] glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty [man] glory in his might, let not the rich [man] glory in his riches:
Proverbs 27:1 - Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
Proverbs 27:2 - Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.Proverbs 25:14 - Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift [is like] clouds and wind without rain.
Romans chapter 11:
18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
God bless.
YsiChrist,
Patty RP
