Hi:
You quoted 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 in the NLT:
> 1Now, dear brothers and sisters, let us clarify some things about the > coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we will be gathered to meet him. > 2Don't be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that the day of > the Lord has already begun. Don't believe them, even if they claim to > have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from > us. 3Don't be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until > there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is > revealed—the one who brings destruction.
The "day of the Lord" is correct here. It is wrong in the KJV, which says, "day of Christ."
I think apostasia, translated "rebellion" in the NLT, and as "falling away" in the KJV should be translated "departure." In 8 English Bibles translated before the KJV, including the Geneva Bible, it was translated "departure." It is talking about the Rapture, which takes place before the "man of lawlessness is revealed".
In our days, the WORLD ENGLISH BIBLE has it right. It says, "Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be, unless the DEPARTURE (i.e., the Pre-Trib Rapture) comes FIRST, and the man of sin is revealed (i.e., second, after the Rapture), the son of destruction, he who opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God."
By our presence, we are prohibiting the revealing of the man of sin. That is because we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit, who is doing the prohibiting. When we are gone, there will be delay no longer.
