I laughed a little when I read your dream. This happened to me around 2009 or 2010.
It was quite a jolt as I live alone with my doggies and they can't talk. It was a very nice voice but loud and it meant for me to remember which I will never forget that voice, I will recognize it when it calls again.
About a yr. later the dreams and visions started. I never dreamed such was possible for today. Thought that ceased after the apostles died. That is why I began searching the web to see if other people were experiencing anything like this as I was afraid to discuss it with anyone.  Thought I was losing it for a while. But I have since found that many people are being awakened to God's voice. Aren't we just blessed that he would call us. I really haven't a clue why some of us have this happen and others don't. When I tell others (family and friends) most give a strange look or roll their eyes. I don't talk to many about it anymore. But I read fivedove and Sparrowsbarn, where these are in the loop. God bless brother...keep looking up. By the way I hope you meet Yeshua in a vision like I did. He has the most beautiful smile.
