"Make the most of
every opportunity"
spirit5@singnet.com.sg
40 years ago Youth For Christ would make up days to celebrate in
order to attract young people to their meetings - "Red Sock
Day," "Green Shirt Day." For years our family hid in the
back part of the house, in the dark, on Halloween, because we
did not believe we should appear to celebrate an "evil," worldy,
satanic day. In the last few years, I realized that the
children of the world were coming to my door every year and I
turned them away. I grieved the years that I wasted this
"Red Sock Day" opportunity. Now, I give out the higher
priced candy I know they will appreciate best and depending on
age, I give out colorful tracts, pictured Bible story books,
scripture portions, Bibles, and my own life experiences written
for a child to understand. The children usually exclaim
over the excellence of the candy I give and are likely more
interested in reading what I put with it. I save up and
plan for this as I would Christian holidays. All days are
God's days given to us to see what we will do with them.
Anyone can be a missionary this way.
Anyone can make a difference for the Kingdom.
Anyone can painlessly witness without leaving their home.
This may be our last October 31 opportunity.
God will do the rest.
