Dear Jim -
Many Bible-believing Christians are conflicted over
the upcoming election, a choice between an admitted
Muslim, Obama (I have heard him say it), and a Mormon.
Stop the bus right here. Last time
I looked, there were over half a dozen candidates on the
ballot, and as far as I know, all but one are
Constitutionally qualified. Besides the "mainstream"
parties (tweedle dumb and tweedle dumber) we have some truly
excellent men on party platforms that are in many ways
preferable to the rhetoric offered by the
Republicrats. (And lets be honest, while they appear
to offer different solutions, they both govern from the
left.)
So give me a Biblical answer: on
what basis to we ignore all but the two "mainstream"
candidates? Why are all but Romney and Obama unworthy
of our consideration and unworthy of our support? Is
there a sentient voter anywhere who really believes that if
we keep choosing between "the lesser of two evils" that we
will get anything other than evil??
Dr. Andy Woods of Sugar Land Baptist
Church recently also wrote an apologetic for Romney:
I
read the article and he made a similar statement,
which I also challenged: "Therefore, I have to vote for which
of the two existing candidates, I believe better
reflects biblical values."
I wrote twice to Dr. Woods asking the
same question I am asking you, and have yet to receive a
response.
Your ballot is the currency of your
political virtue. ANY vote for an anti-Christ
candidate (and I believe both Romney and Obama qualify) is
a WASTED vote.
It's our political duty to support the
best candidate, not the most "electable" candidate we
dislike the least. I daresay there is at least one
candidate that you can support enthusiastically, and I'll
bet it isn't Romney.
Best,
Steve
